Just what's being written about? Where is it coming from? Whether reporting is about an international community or a local or Canadian one can be very important to establishing perceptions of what religious people do. Here are the 'most' and the 'least' figures of coverage, as well as the average coverage from local, international and Canadian sources:
| Location | Avg. % of Coverage | Newspaper with Most Coverage | % | Newspaper(s) with Least Coverage | % |
| Local | 36% | Kelowna Courier | 72.2% | Brandon Sun | 0% |
| Canadian | 17% | Globe and Mail | 41.9% | Le Soleil | 2% |
| International | 47% | Telegraph Journal | 82.4% | Cape Breton Post | 14.3% |
Another important aspect of 'what' is being reported is how 'photogenic' religion is in a newspaper. Again, there are large differences in the use of photographs either on their own, or in conjunction with a story that contains religious content. Again, here are the 'most' and 'least' figures:
| Average % of photos | Most photos | % | Least photos | % |
| 42.9% | Edmonton Journal | 64.9% | Le Soleil | 14% |
*For more information on the computation of percentages please see notes on the research.
