Notes

Below is a listing of the religious groups in descending order of the number of items that appeared during all of the scanning periods.

What can you discover by looking at this mess of numbers? The column titled # of items indicates the total number of stories and/or photos that contained some reference to the religious group. F and M indicate how many of the items were either fully about the group, or just included a mention of it. The next three columns, Total Head, Total Col and Total Photo give the cm² occupied by headlines, columns of text, and photographs, illustrations or graphs. (Note that items that were deemed to only mention religion have had their respective measurements divided in half.) Total Space is the summing up of these three measurements.

The column titled % Full indicates the percentage of items about the religious group that were all about religion, and not just mentioning it. Similarly, % Photo quickly shows how much of the total space was made up of photos or other graphics. Average Space gives a good idea of just how big the average item dealing with the religious group was.

The final column, % Total, indicates how much of all the religious references found (including some not listed here) dealt with this specific group.
