| ~ Chapter Six ~ |
| Jeff pulled into the Qwic Shop and saw Ryann coming out of the store. He parked his car, got out, walked over to her and gave her a hug. Heyyou made it! Im here, Ryann said, with a big smile on her face. And all in one piece. So how was your trip? Good, but a long ride by yourself. Chris showed up as I was leaving and asked me to stay in not so many words. Obviously you didnt listen. Im glad. Jeff said with a grin from ear to ear. Obviouslyso are we going to your house or what? I am exhausted. Sure. Jeff said. Just follow me. They both got into their vehicles and pulled out. Ryann followed Jeff to his house, and they parked. Jeff got out and started helping Ryann grab her bags. Matt and Amy walked over to help. Hey Ryann, whats up? Amy said. Not much Amy thanks for helping guys. Ryann replied. They carried all of Ryanns bags into the guestroom and set them down. Amy and Matt left the room, but Jeff stayed. So let me show you around the house, and then Ill leave you alone to get settled or whatever, ok? Jeff showed Ryann around his home, and they ended up back in her room. If you need anything Ryann, anything at all, dont hesitate to ask. Thanks a lot Jeff. So I will let you get settled now. Actually, I think I am just going to go to bed. But Ill see you in the morning, right? Well, I do live here, so Im sure Ill see you. Jeff gave Ryann a smile, and he left the room and closed the door. Ryann woke up the next morning, and could smell the coffee brewing. She climbed out of bed and made her way to the kitchen, where she saw Jeff standing at the counter. He was making a cup of coffee, wearing only a pair of shorts. Ryann leaned in the doorway, just admiring the view. Damn, hes looking fine this morning she thought, and then said, Good morning, and walked into the kitchen. Jeff turned around and said, Hey, you want some coffee? Sure, but I can get it. Sit down and enjoy yours. Ryann made her coffee and Jeff sat down at the table and started reading the paper. Ryann took her coffee over to the table and sat across from Jeff. So where are Matt and Amy? They went home last night, right after you got here. Do you want part of the paper? Jeff asked Ryann. No thanks. I think I am just going to turn on the television. Go Ahead. Jeff said. Ryanna grabbed her coffee and went into the living room. She sat on the couch and clicked the TV on with the remote. She was watching the news and drinking her coffee. Jeff came in with his coffee and sat down next to Ryann on the couch. She leaned up to take a sip of her coffee when Jeff grabbed the remote and changed the channel. He set the remote back down and Ryann picked it up. She said, I was watching that, and changed the channel back to the news. She was intently watching, and Jeff was watching her. When he was sure that she wasnt paying attention to him, he grabbed the remote from her hand. She turned to him and said, Hey! What? Jeff said with an innocent look on his face. Give me that back right now Jeff! And what are you going to do if I dont? I am going to lay the smack down on your ass! Ryann replied, and then she giggled. Youre going to lay the smack down on my ass? Well how bout I give you a Swanton Bomb and wipe that smile right off your face? Give it to me! Ryann said, raising her voice, and reaching for the remote. Jeff held it away from her up in the air and said, Come and get it, if you think you are woman enough. Ryann grabbed for the remote but Jeff slid away from her and teased her with it. Come on Ryannyou want it, dont ya? Youre starting to make me mad. Ryann replied. Then all of a sudden she jumped on top of Jeff and grabbed for the remote. Jeff managed to elude the advances Ryann made on him and the remote control. He finally got out from under her but when he started to run, he tripped over the leg of the coffee table and fell flat on his face. The remote control went flying and Ryann went for it. As she stepped over Jeff, he grabbed her leg and she fell on her stomach in front of him. He climbed over her and reached for the clicker. Ryann stopped him by rolling him off her back and then she sat on him. HA, She said. Now listen to me. I was watching the news, and you were reading the paper. Whyd you come in and change my channel. Ryann was trying to be really serious, but all of a sudden she burst out laughing. She rolled off from Jeff and onto the floor beside him. Jeff started to laugh with her. She brought her hand up and backhanded him in the chest, and as serious as she could manage, she said, Its not funny. She got up and grabbed the remote and headed back to the couch. Jeff, still lying on his back on the floor, said, Arent you going to help me up? Youve got two feet, get up yourself. Ryann said sarcastically. Come on. Pleeeease Jeff pleaded. Ryann let out a big sigh, put her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes. Fine. She said. Ryann walked over to Jeff and put her hands down for Jeff to grab onto. When she pulled on him he jerked his arms down and pulled her down on top of him. It was almost as if time stood still, in that brief moment that they looked into each others eyes. Ryann shook her head slightly when she realized what she was doing. She got up off from Jeff and they both stood up immediately. So can I watch the news? Ryann asked Jeff as she sat down. Yeah. He said, and sat down on the couch next to her. Man, I really like her. I dont even know much about her, but I like her. Jeff thought. But I cant let her know. She just broke up with her boyfriend; she needs a friend right now. But it sure is going to be fun having her around. Jeff started laughing out loud. What is so funny? Ryann turned to him and asked. Nothing is funny. Jeff stated. Then why were you laughing? Ryanna asked. I was just thinking that you were going to be a fun person to live with. You can make me laugh. Well, I am glad, you make me laugh too. I really need that right now. Ill be here whenever you need someone to laugh at. Whenever you need me. Thats what friends are for, right? Jeff replied. They both sat back with their coffee and watched the news. |
