~ Chapter Seven ~
Matt pulled into Jeffs driveway, at 10:30 am. He had his hair pulled back into a ponytail at the nape of his neck, the way he usually wore it. He was wearing his Hardy Boyz jersey and a pair of black jean shorts that reached the top of his knees. Matt got out of the car and headed up to Jeffs door. He thought about knocking, as he got closer to the door, out of respect for Jeffs new roommate. But ultimately, he decided that if Jeff was going to keep her around for a while, then she needed to get used to him. So he got to the door and walked in. He saw Ryann and Jeff sitting on the couch. After saying good morning to the both of them he headed straight for the kitchen and fixed himself some coffee. He returned to the living room and sat in a chair. You two are awful quiet this morning. He said, looking at the both of them. Ryanna replied, I am watching the news. Jeff followed with, Im just tired. So whats up bro?
Not much. What are we doing today?
Well, I figured I would show Ryann around Cameron today, so she would know where things are. Jeff stated, and smiled in Ryanns direction.
   That sounds cool. Matt replied.
Well, Ryann said. Then I guess I will jump in the shower and get ready.
Ok. Let me show you where the towels and things are. Jeff said, as he rose from the couch and walked down the hallway toward the bathroom. Ryann followed him. Matt remained in the chair. A few moments later, Jeff came back out in the living room, and sat where he had been previously. The two of them sat there, silent, until Matt heard the shower turn on. Then, he turned to his little brother and said, So what is up with that girl Jeff?
What do you mean?
I mean, you hardly know her, yet youve invited her into your home to stay with you. That is so out of character for you Jeff.
I cant explain it Matt, there is just something about her.
So when are you going to ask her out? Or have you already? Matt asked.
Im not going to ask her out, Matt. She just broke up with her boyfriend. She needs friends right now, not me hitting on her.
I understand. I guess she brings out a different side of you. Youre being so different.
How so?
Dropping whatever youre doing to be with her? Jeff, that is not you. When you were with Jenn, it didnt matter what she said or did, you did things your way. I didnt think you had it in you to be a gentleman. Matt said, chuckling.
Like I said before, there is just something about her. I am drawn to her like a magnet is pulling us together.
Jeff, Ive never heard you speak like that before, about a woman. Are you sure you didnt bump your head or anything?
Yes Matt, I am sure. Jeff stated. Enough already. So whats up with you and that chickwhats her name? Jeff asked, snapping his fingers trying to recollect her name.
   Lexi?
Yeah, thats the one.
Not much. I think Im going to take her out tonight. Hey, you and Ryann should come with us. Matt said, matter-of-factly.
I dont know if shed want to go, she prob Ryann cut off Jeff when she came into the living room in a spaghetti strap tank top and a pair of jean shorts.
Go where? She asked.
Matt is taking a girl out tonight. Jeff said. And he thought that maybe you and I would like to go too.
Well, out where? Ryann asked.
   I dont know. Matt replied.
If you go dancing or something, Id be glad to go. It will be fun. Ryann said.
Ok! Jeff said with enthusiasm. Then its a date.

Ryann headed back to the bathroom to finish getting ready, and Jeff followed. Hey, Im just going to jump in the shower, but as soon as I am in, you can come back in and finish doing whatever it is you have to do. Jeff said.
Sure. Just holler to me when youre in. Ryann replied. She went into the living room and grabbed her coffee cup for a refill. Matt was in the kitchen filling his up also.
So Ryann, when do you start training?
Monday. Ive got to drive up to Raleigh. Is that far from here?
Its only about an hour. So tell mebeing the nosy big brother that I am, whats up with you and my little brother?
Nothing that I am aware of. Why? Did he say something to you?
No, well, I probably shouldnt say anything.
You cant start a conversation like that and then not finish it. What did he say?
Its not what he said, its what hes doing. Look Ryann, I cant say anymore. Jeff would kill me if he knew Ive said what Ive said already. Just forget I said anything.
Jeff yelled out from the bathroom, Im in! Ryann said, Matt, this conversation isnt over. Im going to go finish getting ready, and youd better be here when I come out.
Yes maam! Matt said, and saluted Ryann like a private in the army would. She giggled, and headed to the bathroom. She started to fix her hair and Jeff said, Are you in here yet?
Yes, Im in here. Ryann replied. The two were talking, working on getting to know one another better.

Matt came up to the bathroom doorway and put his finger over his mouth insinuating to keep quiet. He whispered in Ryanns ear, Turn on the hot water so Jeff gets a cold shower. Then, he walked back to the living room. Ryann contemplated whether or not to do it, but she ultimately decided to, to pay him back for the remote control incident earlier. She grabbed the hot water faucet on the sink and turned it on as far as it would go. It took a minute, but the water turned cold and Jeff screamed Hey! and jumped out of the shower. Natural reaction made Ryann turn her head toward the shower, and received a full view of Jeff. Her face turned beat red as she closed her eyes. She turned off the water and turned around to leave the
bathroom. Jeffs face turned three shades of red before he grabbed a towel to cover himself. Ryann walked out and went straight to the living room where Matt was lying on the couch laughing his ass off. Did you get a good view? He asked Ryann. Then he burst out laughing again. She shot him an evil look that would have struck him dead if it could have. Youre an ass. She replied, and then started to laugh a little. You knew he would jump out, didnt ya?
I cant lie to you Ryann. Whenever the shower gets cold, Jeff jumps out before he turns the water off.
And why did you tell me to do that?
I needed to break the ice.
Matt, there was no ice to be broken.
Trust me, the ice needed to be broken.
Jeff walked out into the living room in just his towel and said, Why did you turn on the hot water Ryann?
Trying to hide her embarrassment, she pointed at Matt and said, He told me to do it!
Jeff gave Matt a glare. Figures. He said, and headed into his room to get dressed.
