OBJECTIVE
Pheasants Forever, a nonprofit conservation organization, is responding to the decline of the ring-necked pheasant population.  Since inception in 1982, the organization has grown to include over 90,000 members in more than 550 chapters.  Dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasant and other wildlife populations through out North America, the organization raised and spent more than $70 million in the last 16 years, on habitat restoration projects, public awareness, education programs, and land management policy improvements whicht benefit farmers and wildlife alike.

Each Pheasants Forever Chapter maintains local control of habitat funds raised through the chapter.  This means that
100% of the net funds raised by chapters remains at the chapter level for local habitat projects, enabling those who belong to and support Pheasants Forever to see the direct results of their contributions.

The principle objective of food and cover plots is to establish safe foraging patterns that restrict unnecessary movements and provide a dependable source of food to help carry wildlife through the winter in good condition.  These plots can also provided significant cover in addition to being a source for food.

A typical habitat restoration program includes elements of the following: nesting cover, winter cover planting of windbreaks and hedgerows, food plot establishments, and wetland restorations.  Pheasants Forever habitat projects alone encompass more than 2 million acres of land.  The organization played a major role in the fight to save the Conservation Reserve Program and strengthen other conservation provisions in the 1996 Fair Act.
