American Chilis
Al Andalus Street
Tel: 221 2702 This restaurant caused quite a
furore when it opened - queues back over the traffic lights to get into the
parking lot and unbelievably having to wait for a table - something
unheard of in Jeddah! If you like
big-style American/Mexican meals then you can understand the enthusiasm.
Open for lunch and dinner. In traditional American style, the servings are gi-normous which sometimes means that in order to leave room for one of the incredible desserts, a starter is the only option. Fajita Nachos for SR36 are ample for 2-3 people and there is a good selection of 'guiltless' salads and pastas. For those throwing caution to the winds then there is a wide choice of burgers and steaks, together with healthy portions of fresh vegetables. The desserts, Molten Chocolate Cake, Caramel Apple Tart etc from SR19 are meals in themselves. The soft drinks and coffee are bottomless - oh that tummies were as well. There is plenty of choice on the children's menu and they get to keep the cup their drink comes in! Fuddruckers
Hera'a International Souq and Al Futayhi Street, right at Galleria on
Tahlia Street Anyone not familiar with the
concept of the global award-winning Fuddruckers should know that much of the
work is up to you, at least as far as the burgers are concerned. Choose your burger - either a 1/2lb or 1/3lb and then
accessorise at the toppings bar - glistening fresh lettuce, juicy tomato slices,
breath-empowering sliced onions, relish, dill pickles and about six sauces will
result in a burger dressed exactly to your liking. And it's your fault if it doesn't look like the picture! If you are not the Richard
Rogers of burger construction then perhaps choose a meal platter - 10oz steak,
barbecue chicken, catch of the day fish - all with Fudd Fries, Texas 'Slaw and a
wedge of Garlic Toast for SR40. A
platter of chicken fingers with the same accompaniments is SR30. There is also pizza, or for the diet conscious, a choice of
salads. For children there is the
choice of a 1/5lb burger, hot dog, grilled cheese sandwich or chicken fingers -
all come with fries, drink and cookie for SR16. Soft drinks and coffee are bottomless - milkshakes are a meal in themselves. Desserts, if you have room, come in the form of hefty slabs of pecan or apple pie, brownies, cookies and/or Baskin Robbins ice cream. And finally - for the early bird that didn't catch the worm and is therefore still hungry, Fuddruckers offers breakfast from 0730-1030. TGI Fridays Al Andalus Street What's to explain ... close enough to Chilis to be of serious competition! The
