Who Has Diabetes?
Approximately 16 million Americans suffer from diabetes.   Worldwide, it is estimated that there are between 100 and 120 million people   with diabetes. Heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, loss of limbs   and nerve damage are just some of the complications that are associated with   diabetes. An estimated 179,000 people in the United States will die from this   deadly disease and its complications this year alone.
What Are The Warning Signs?
Unusual thirst
Frequent urination
Abnormal hunger or fatigue
Sudden weight loss
Blurred vision
Unexpected weakness
What About Insulin?
Insulin is a treatment, not a cure. The number of   diabetics is increasing each year and a cure needs to be found. The Juvenile   Diabetes Foundation International was founded in 1970 in order to support and   fund research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications. Researchers   are hopeful that it will be found by the end of this decade.
Who Can Help?
You can! So can your friends, family members and co-workers. By   participating in this year's annual WALK TO CURE DIABETES, you can help   us raise funds that will go directly toward vital research to find a cure for   diabetes and its complications. Through fundraising events such as this, JDRF   International has funded US$326 million in diabetes research since 1970.
