Jewish Learning

Every Friday afternoon our whole Hillel staff has been studying with Rabbi Pinchas Avruch, the director of Milwaukee Kollel and a wonderful teacher. For about three fourths of the year we studied Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler’s Michtav Me'Eliyahu (also known in English as Strive for Truth), a collection of philosophical essays on various topics in Judaism. For the last fourth of the year we studied Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan’s Maimonides’ Principles: The Foundations of Jewish Faith, a selection of excerpts of various Maimonides’s works as they relate to his Thirteen Principles of Jewish faith.

On Shabbat afternoons I have also been studying selections from the Mishna and the Talmud at Lake Park Synagogue, a local congregation where I have been a member this year.
