I'm coming to Ashiyu. What do i do? One of the great things about our spa experience is how easy it is. When you walk in, our friendly host will greet you and show you to one of our three foot spas. Then you just take off your shoes and socks, roll up your pant legs, if you have them on, and put your feet in the water. It might seem a little hot at first, but your feet will quickly adjust and you will soon enjoy the amazing sensation of warmth and massage. We have clean towels for when you are done soaking, and select foot cremes to lock in the moisturizing your feet have received. I want to host a party at Ashiyu. How does that work? First, pick a time that works for your party and call us or stop in to reserve. Our usual hours are 11am-7pm, Tuesday through Sunday, but if you prefer another time, that can be arranged at no extra cost. We do not hang a "closed" sign on the door during your party if you have reserved the entire space, but we do keep interruptions to a minimum. Small group walk-ins are welcome any time (except when someone has reserved the entire space.) By reserving you ensure that a spa is ready and waiting. You are welcome to bring your own food and refreshments. We have tables that we can set up, and if you need to come twenty or so minutes early to set up, there is no extra charge. We have a microwave, hot pot, and a rest room in the back room, which can also be used for changing out of leggings, etc. Is using Ashiyu good for you? You bet! Our spas are based on the ancient Japanese practice of soaking the feet in hot springs water. "Ashiyu" translates "foot bath", and Japanese tradition and medical science agree: boosting the circulation to your feet and legs through warm water and massage offers incredible benefits. Naturopathic physicians often recommend foot baths for their patients. The variety of ailments that can be helped by using Ashiyu is tremendous, from neuropathy and aching feet to sore backs and even migraines. Some people have reported that their daily use of Ashiyu has made their Restless Leg Syndrome disappear. RLS is a very common phenomenon in which people experience painful leg cramps, usually when lying down at the end of the day. There is only one prescription drug for RLS, and it is accompanied by the usual list of ugly side effects. Ashiyu has only one side effect, relaxation. One owner said that her RLS had completely disappeared with regular use, and then came back during a recent trip away from her spa!

Yes, if you are not charging for it, serving wine is fine. Where do people use Ashiyu? In Japan, of course, they are found everywhere, in resorts, parks, schools, even restaurants and train stations! We imagine a day where our spas are fixtures in fitness centers, retirement centers, resorts, hotel rooms, parks, and yes, train stations. But for now our little store and a couple other places around town are the only place you can experience this novel way to relax and be rejuvenated. |
