Democratic Commonwealth Introduction

Top of Page

Background:

The Commonwealth was originally the result of a political union between Niveskia, Baktukarn and Neepon, though it came to absorb Quatl, Dariva, West Nivikaarn and Kataan. Following reformations introduced in 1510, the Commonwealth officially dropped it's one-party system and opened up to democracy and gradual market liberalization.

Economy overview: After gradual forays into a market economy under the former one-party system, the transition to a more open economy has had optimistic results, including a raise in the standard of living in many areas of the federation. A stubborn lack of transparency at many levels of government and habit of running budget deficits has scared away shaky investors, though reforms are currently before legislatures to rectify many of these shortfalls.
