| CBC Radio The CBC Radio is the successor to the former Union Radio. It's
new mandate is to present thoughtful, original, informative and entertaining material
through its various resources. To this end, CBC Radio airs a number of programs to
expand the mind and encourage debate and conversation on topics of interest.
Zeng Luo, Vice President for Radio, has announced the
launching of two parallel radio stations -- CBC Radio One and CBC Broadcast News.
Radio One will continue to air entertainment programs, news updates, and cultural
programs. Broadcast News will present constant news, social, political and economic
affairs programs.
Radio One has alotted a significant portion of prime air time
to regional programs in each of the republics. The initiative, intended to enhance
the listening audience and provide cultural awareness, has thus far been extremely
popular.
Broadcast News, in each republic, has alotted eight hours of
every week to community-based radio programs to encourage local discussion of issues
facing the areas where it can be heard. |
