The President of the Commonwealth is a position elected by universal suffrage by the peoples of all the republics.  His purpose is to direct the policy of the Commonwealth and act as head of state.  The President also selects the Commonwealth Ministers from within the Commonwealth Congress or from outside sources.

President Mikhail Levinovich Molotov
(1st President)

Mr. Molotov was elected May 1, 1511 by direct elections throughout the Commonwealth.

Date of Birth: August 9, 1457
Served: May 1, 1511 - present

Biography: Mikhail Molotov was born August 9, 1457.  Growing up in the southern provinces, Mr. Molotov worked in a mine from the age of 13 until he entered the seminary at the age of 18.   He left the seminary two years later to attend the University of Cenchev on a full scholarship to study political science.  Though he showed great promise, he was expelled from the university in his third year for taking part in a demonstration against the Imperial government.  From here he entered the Unionist party's apparatus and worked his way through the ranks, holding several key party posts including Secretary in charge of the Unionist International and Secretary of Foreign Policy.  In 1500, Mr. Molotov was appointed Foreign Minister of Sylvansk, and then Supreme Foreign Minister four years later.  In 1511, Mr. Molotov was also appointed interim Secretary General of the Unionist Federation following the death of Arkady Dobrodevsky.
