You're invited to join the Philadelphia Rug and Textile Society.
The Philadelphia Rug and Textile Society (PRTS) is a non-profit
organization offering its membership opportunities to enrich
their knowledge and appreciation of hand-knotted carpets and
textiles. Founded in March 1999, our members number more than
eighty individuals from the Philadelphia/Wilmington area.
PRTS members gather six to eight times each year in informal
meetings. Typically our events feature a speaker highlighting
a particular Oriental rug or Textile topic.
Speakers we featured to date include such noteworthy members
of the rug community as internationally recognized collector/dealer
Dennis Dodds, natural dye authorities Dr. Harald Bohmer, leader
in the renewed use of natural dyes and designs, George Jevremovic
of Material Culture, Textile and Rug curator, writer and scholar
Carol Bier and Rug Study tour leader to Turkey and Central Asia,
Turkish rug collector Samy Rabinovic.
Affiliation
PRTS is a member of the American Conference on Oriental rugs
(ACOR), a nationwide organization established for the understanding
and appreciation of Oriental rugs and textiles.
