I had a very nice visit with the twins yesterday. I went to the city with Deb (surrogacy #2 IM) for an appointment and so we thought it was a great opportunity to see how everyone was doing.
I just couldn't believe how much Michael and Michelle have grown! As we walked in I saw that both of them were sitting up on their own and they looked over and they were just too cute for words. Michelle has a mouth full of teeth already (7 of them) and Michael has one. Michael's favorite thing is to stand up, but Michelle prefers to just sit or bounce. It was so wonderful to see how happy they are. Doug got a few belly laughs out of Michael which just makes your heart smile to hear that.
They are very big babies too. They each weigh about 22lbs already and they are not quite 8 months old!! They look completely different from each other, but they are both so beautiful.
While I was there Doug gave me a home video of the twins' first few months. Of course I watched it all as soon as I got home! It was just so neat to see them at all different stages. I also got some more new pictures (which I will post very soon) and also Michael's hospital bracelets (he had 2 sets since he was at 2 different hospitals so they gave me one) which is all so thoughtful. I love all of these things so much, everytime I get new pictures I show everyone I can.
Doug told me that at Michael's last appointment with the specialist, they found that Michael's heart is not doing as well as it should be. Fortunately it is not at the point yet to where he needs another surgery or medication, but they do need to keep an eye on him. So he goes back in another 6 months to see if things are better, worse, or the same. I'd really appreciate it if everyone could keep him in your thoughts because he is such a wonderful, special, happy little guy and I'm sure any good wishes or prayers sure couldn't hurt.
So it looks like the babies keep their parents very busy, but of course they look like they love every minute of it.
