CHAPTER 16
Francis drove home. No one said anything. When we got home Reese went in his room and didn't say anything to anyone. Lois asked Francis, "Ok what is wrong?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Reese"
"Ohh... Reese. Yeah.... Umm him and Amber got in a fight."
"That's terrible I am gonna go talk to him."
"No mom don't"
Lois went up to talk to Reese.
Francis said, "Malcolm he told you the story go over and talk to her."
"What why my?"
"Because you know the story go I'll cover you."
"Alright"
Malcolm went over to Amber's. Lois knocked on the door, "Hunny can I come in?"
"Yeah hold on a second."
She opened the door, "Hunny what happened?"
"Amber and I just had a little argument."
"About what?"
"Mom no offense, but I just don't want to talk about it. I want to be alone."
"Alright hunny but if you need to talk you can come to me."
Malcolm rang the doorbell. My mom let him in. I asked, "What are you doing here?"
"I came to talk to you."
"About what?"
"Reese"
"What about him?"
"Well I know you got in a fight but you have to understand how much you mean to him."
"Malcolm I did know but he said that I was trying to get with his brother."
"Ok I know that sounds bad."
I shook my head yes.
He continued, "Well like really bad, but he seriously thinks that he is going to lose you. You are everything to him. He wants to be with you all the time. I mean like he is so afraid of losing you. He thinks that he doesn't deserve you. He thinks that you are like the best thing in the world. He doesn't care for anyone as much as you, not even himself. He has been hurt by like all his ex-girlfriends that is why he is like so scared of being hurt."
"So he thought that he could send you over here and you would tell me all these things and it would make me change my mind. Well it's not going to work."
"He didn't send me over here. He won't even talk to anyone. Besides he is too stupid to figure out that I am over here. I can tell you all of this from what I know. He has liked you ever since you first met but he didn't want to ask you out because he thought you would say no. Then he figured it would hurt your friendship if you no and he couldn't deal with it."
"You mean everything you said. He didn't send you over here."
"No....will you just go talk to him and give him a chance."
"I didn't break up with him I just wanted to be alone. I couldn't believe that he said that to me."
"I know here come with me."
"OK"

CHAPTER 17
I walked up to Reese's room. Lois called Malcolm over to ask him what he pulled now. I knocked on the door. He said, "Who is it?"
I opened the door and walked in and said, "Reese."
He jumped up and looked at me, "What are you doing here?"
"Baby you're crying." I went over and out my arms around him.
"Yeah well it's hard not to when the only person you care about leaves you."
"Baby I didn't leave you. I love you I just wasn't thinking straight."
"Amber I am sorry I said that I...."
"Reese, Baby, don't worry about it. We are here now."
"I have to tell you how I feel. I listened to what you said before and I realized how much you really mean to me, I so didn't show it."
"Reese I know how you feel for me."
"Amber no you don't I just realized how much it hurts when the one thing you love is not there anymore."
"Baby but I am still here."
"I know that is why I am gonna tell you when I have the chance."
I just smiled at him through my tears.
"You mean the world to me. When I first saw you I just felt like we were meant to be together. I wanted to do anything I could to get to know you. You are seriously like the most beautiful give in the world." He grabbed my hands and he started crying, "I waited so long to ask you out because I was so afraid I wasn't good enough for you. I felt that you deserved better than me. I have been hurt by so many girls, but I have never felt this way about any of them. I love you more than words could possibly say. I am just so afraid of losing you. I mean you are like the world to me. I never want to be without you. I see you everyday and I just fall in love with you all over again 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You are everything I need in this world." I look in your eyes and I get a feeling so deep that comes back every time I see you. I never knew that I could feel like this, but with you I do. I will love you for the rest of my life you know that's not even negotiable. Before you were here I didn't care about anything. You taught me that there is so much more to life. I love you and respect everything that you have given me. I am so sorry about everything that I said earlier. I didn't mean any of that. I love you more than anything in this world and I just want to be with you for the rest of my life. You mean so much to me I never want to lose you."
I put my arms round him and held him close.
I whispered, "Reese, I love you. I am sorry about earlier. I didn't want you to go through it. I was just upset that we were fighting. The whole time I was with out you all I could think about was how I missed you and how much I loved you and how important you are to my life. I will never leave you."
We just held each other for a while. He kissed me. We both pulled away and he said, "I missed this too." and kissed me again. We stayed in his room and talked for a while. We were both sitting on his bed. We were both leaning up against the pillows. He asked, "Did we break up?"
"No we just had an argument." I looked at him, "baby, can we not think about this now OK?"
"Yeah we should. I mean we got through this we can get through anything."
Francis knocked on the door.
Reese said, "Come in"

"Guys I just want to say that I am sorry."
"It's alright Francis."
"No Reese it's not, you guys had a fight because I was jealous that you had Amber to talk to and I just got jealous. I mean things change and this is one thing that you should be happy for and keep forever and I am sorry."
"It's alright, " Reese said. I just smiled at him and put my head on Reese's shoulder.
He said, "Alright well I am going back downstairs. Maybe we can hang out tomorrow."
Reese said, "Sure."
I said, "Well I think you can count me out on this one. I will let you guys just hang out. Boys night out."
Reese said, "Are you sure. It would be cool to hang out."
I replied, "Yeah I know baby, but I want you to have time by yourself."
"But I don't need to be by myself I want to be with you."
"Reese I know but I think we could use some time apart."
Francis started to look confused.
"What do you mean by time apart?" He started to get a worried look as he sat up.
"Baby it's nothing bad. I just think that if we do more stuff alone then it will make the time we spend together special, if you know what I mean." I said as I kissed him.
Francis said, "OK that's my key to leave. Bye guys."
Reese said, "That's what I love about you."
"What?"
"The way that you can seduce me by every little thing that you say."
"Oh yeah."
"Yeah you have no idea." He smiled as he started to kiss me. Then there was a knock on the door.
Reese said, "Ugh. come in."
It was Malcolm. Reese said, "What are you doing?"
"This is my room."
"So right now its not."
"Umm yeah it is."
"Baby I have to go now OK."
"Oh why. You seduce me and then leave me."
"Well yeah."
"That's harsh."
"Well let's just put it on hold for tomorrow."
"I have to wait that long."
"Well here is something to hold you over." I said as I kissed him and walked out of his room. He walked me to the door and we kissed goodbye.

CHAPTER 18
When I went home I found my mom, my ex-boyfriend, and his mother. I had a totally surprised look on my face. My mom said, "Hey welcome home hunny."
I walked in and said, "Hi Nick. Hi Mrs. Michaels."
Nick said, "Hi."
Mrs. Michaels said, "Hi hunny how are you?"
"Umm fine." I looked to my mom for an explanation.
She instantly answered, "They are going to stay with us for a week because they came here on vacation and I thought that it would be nice of them to stay here."
"Ok sounds nice." I said sarcastically as I went to my room.
Mike said, "What's wrong with her?" (Mike is my little brother. remember now?)
My mom said, "She has had a rough day today, boyfriend trouble."
Nick said, "Can I go talk to her."
"Yeah sure hunny go ahead."
Nick came up to my room and knocked on the door. I said, "Come in."
He said, "Hey."
"Hey" I replied.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing why?"
"I was just wondering. You seem like you are in a bad mood."
"I am fine."
"Ok so where were you today. I have been waiting here for a while. Believe me it was so boring I had to hear all this mom talk. They started talking about baking and about the shows on TV. It was so horrible."
I laughed. "I bet. My mom tries to talk to me about stuff like that but I just try to ignore it. Sometimes it works."
"Yeah. I know my mom was like do you like that hat. It was so ugly but I was like sure."
I just smiled at him. "You lied to your mom?"
"Well I didn't want to hurt her feelings."
"You are a dork."
"I know don't be jealous because I am a loser."
"So how have you been in school?"
"Well besides the times I have gotten sent to the office and the all the failing grades I am receiving I am doing good."
"You were sent to the office?"
"Yeah only a few times."
"For what?"
"Fighting and stuff like that."
"What did you fight about?"
"I don't really wanna get into that."
"Ok you're failing?"
"Only 4 subjects."
"Only? But you used to be good in school."
"Yeah well that was before. When I had something to work for."
"What did you have to work for?"
"Well you."
"Me?"
"Yeah you helped me. You wanted me to do good so I did. No one cares how I do now."
"Yeah they do. Doesn't your mom care."
"Well even when she does it doesn't matter to me."
"Why not?"
"Well I just don't feel the same doing it for her. Ya know it's just different."
"Let's talk about something else."
"OK if that's what you want."
"How are the people here?"
"Depends you have your good and your bad just like before."
"Yeah people are the same everywhere you go."
"Not everywhere."
"What are you doing tomorrow?"
"I am not sure yet. Reese wanted me to go over and hang out with him but I told him that he should hang out with his brothers alone."
"Oh well do you want to chill or something?"
"Sure I guess. Where do you want to go?"
"Doesn't matter. I don't know where I am going so maybe you can pick."
"If you want me to. How about "
"The mall? Don't even tell me."
"How did you know?"
"I don't know maybe that's the only thing you ever have on your mind."
"Are you saying that I am shallow?"
"No." He said as he tried to dodge me shoving him. Then he grabbed my arms and was said, "Oh what now I got your arms."
Then we both just started to laugh.

CHAPTER 19
Just then the phone rang. It was Reese. I answered the phone laughing, "Hello?"
"Hi " He said surprised.
"Hey what's up?"
"Nothing much what about you?"
"Well I am just sitting here."
"Umm are we gonna get together tomorrow?" I looked up at Nick.
"Well umm I thought that you were gonna go somewhere with your brothers?"
"I am but I was wondering if you were coming with me?"
"Baby I would but I already told you that I was gonna let you spend more time with your brothers."
"I know but I want to spend time with you."
"I know but you can spend time with me anytime."
Nick said, "Hurry up get off the phone I brought this really good movie."
"Hold on."
"I am I am." He said as he started hitting me with the pillow.
"Come on stop." I kept laughing when he was hitting me.
"Get off get off. I wanna watch the movie."
"OK OK Alright I am back."
"Who is at your house?"
"Nick."
"Nick who?"
"My ex-boyfriend I told you about him before."
"Why is he there?"
"Well him and his mom are staying a week and we are going to the mall tomorrow."
Nick said, "Blah blah blah I wanna watch the movie."
"Stop you keep making me laugh." He kept messing up my hair. "Reese I gotta go OK baby."
"Ok bye I love you."
"Bye."
Nick said, "Finally."
"You're a jerk you kept making me laugh."
"It's not my fault you were having a boring convo."
"Do you guys always talk like that?"
"No. Just when you are around."
"Why when I am around?"
"Because you kept hitting me."
"OMG look what you did to my hair."
"It looks fine."
"Oh yeah. It's like all over the place."
"Well you still look beautiful."
I just looked at him. "Ok lets go watch the movie now."
"Alright."
(Over at the Reese's.)
Francis said, "So is Amber coming with us?"
"No."
"Reese what is wrong did she dump you?"
"No."
"Well then what is wrong?"
"She can't because her ex-boyfriend is staying a week with her."
"Really?"
"Yeah. This can't be good."
"Probably not. What are you going to do about it?"
"I don't know. What can I do about it?"
Malcolm just looked back and forth at them. "Reese didn't she tell you not to worry about other guys."
"Yeah but not her ex-boyfriend."
Francis said, "Well Reese is right."
Malcolm said, "What did she say to you?"
"That he was here for a week and they were going to the mall tomorrow."
"The mall? We could go and find out what the deal is."
"Wait a second, you mean spy on them."
Francis said, "That is such a good idea."
Reese said, "But I feel wrong about this."
"Reese this is your girlfriend. You have every right to know what is going on."
Lois yelled, "Boys. Bed. Now."
They all went to bed. Over at my house we were watching the movie. We both fell asleep on the couch. In the morning Francis woke up Reese and Malcolm and said, "start getting ready. I am gonna watch and make sure they don't leave yet. Hurry up so I can start." They all got ready and waited. Nick and I came out of the house. He had his car in the driveway. He opened up the door for me and we both got in the car. They got in the car and Francis drove them to the mall. Francis said, "Don't act like you are following them."
Nick and I went into the music store. The store had an arcade in the back of it. Francis, Reese, and Malcolm all went into the arcade part. Nick was looking at CD's with me. He said, "Hey lets go win something."
"Sure."
We went in. Reese and Francis were at the coin exchange. We got behind them in line. Reese was in front of Francis so I didn't see him. Reese turned around and I saw him and I asked, "Reese what are you doing here?"
Surprised he answered, "Umm playing games. What are you doing here."
"Playing games I guess. Oh this is Nick. Nick this is Reese."
Reese said, "Hi nice to meet you."
Nick said, "Yeah right." He thought to himself, no competition.
I just looked at Reese. "We are going to Lunch tomorrow do you want to come?"
"Sure if it's OK with Nick."
Nick said, "Sure why not," as he rolled his eyes.
I said, "Great then Francis and Malcolm can come too if they want."
"Alright."
Francis said, "Reese come play this game."
"Alright."
"Looks like little rich boy don't like you."
Reese just laughed. Nick said, "When you told me you had a boyfriend I thought you had like a boyfriend."
"I do."
"I know but one that treats you really good."
"He does treat me good."
"Well you just deserve better."
"Like how."
"Like us. I miss us so much. You were everything to me. This distance relationship could work." I just kept looking at him.
Reese looked over at me and saw how we were talking. He said, "He is seducing her."
Nick said, "You remember don't you? I read your letters every night. I am always thinking about you. I am failing without you. Life just doesn't seem complete. You are everything to me."
I said, "But I love Reese. What we had is over."
"I know you think you love Reese but compared to me who treated you better? Who did everything for you?"
"Reese does things for me."
"Yeah he does but do you know why?"
"Because he loves me."
"No because you got him whipped."
"That can't be the only reason."
"How many times has be bought you something?"
"Well never but that doesn't matter."
"Yeah it does. I bought you diamonds and everything you wanted because I cared for you."
"Just think about everything that I am saying. I know you will realize what you are missing in me. By the end of the week you will change your mind."
"But we do love each other."
"Yeah OK that's why he is over there and I am over here with you."
I just looked over at Reese. "I guess you could be right on that part."
"I told you. Trust me I know his type. He just is using you for a while to get another girlfriend."
"No I don't think that he is doing that."

CHAPTER 20
One of the most popular girls in school went over to Reese.
"Hi Reese."
"Hi Jess."
"What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same question."
"Yeah. I am not an arcade type person."
"Yeah I kind of figured that one." He laughed.
"Yeah. Did you and Amber break up?"
"No."
"You didn't. I thought you guys did. I mean she is over there with another guy and you are over here."
"Yeah. That is her ex-boyfriend."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah."
"Well if you didn't believe me about what kind of guy Reese is look at him now."
"He's talking to Jessica."
"Yeah it's not like he's flirting with her."
Malcolm played 17 games of ski ball listening to our conversation. He went over to Reese and Francis and told them everything that they were saying.
Francis said, "I got my credit card. Lets go buy her something. You can pay me back later."
Reese said, "Sure. Are you coming Jess?"
Jess replied, "Sure. I would love to."
Francis said, "Yes an opinion of a girl."
Reese motioned that they were leaving."
I mouthed OK bye.
Nick said, "Yeah they are leaving so you don't see her and him talking."
I just said, "Umm. Are we gonna play any games?"
"Sure. I understand you don't want to talk about it. Just remember I will be here for you." He thought to himself bye Reese.
Reese went to the jewelry shop to find something for me. Jess suggested that Reese got me a gold ring that said I love you. He bought it. He said, "I don't want to give it to her right away. I will give it to her at the right time."
Jess said, "That's a really good idea."
Francis said, "Guys lets go out to eat."
"Sure," they all said.
Reese said, "Jess are you gonna come with us?"
"I would but I am completely broke. Thanks anyways."
"I'll pay for you."
"That's really sweet but I really shouldn't."
"Yeah you should come on it will be fun."
"Alright," she said as she flashed him a smile, "If it means that much."
Nick and I started walking through the mall.
Jess said, "Reese can I ask you something alone later?"
"Yeah sure."
"OK," she smiled.
When they got there table Francis sat next to Reese and Malcolm sat next to Jess. They talked for a while and then they ordered. Francis said, "I'll be back in a few minutes."
After he left Reese told Malcolm to leave for a minute. He said OK.
Reese said, "So what did you want to ask me?"
"Umm. Does Francis have a girlfriend?" She said with a smile. Just as Nick and I were walking by which made it look like they were on a date just the 2 of them. I got so mad because I thought Reese was cheating on me. Nick said, "let's go do something else, like maybe a movie. Don't let it bother you. He loves you remember?"
I just glared at him.
(Back to the table)
"No. He's single why?"
"Well I was just thinking that he was kind of cute ya know?"
"Oh dead sexy."
"Shut up Reese. So do you think that you could hook me up with him?"
"I don't know. I will try though."
"Thanks you are such a sweetie."
"Aren't you kind of young for him?"
"Well I dunno. Maybe."
Then Francis and Malcolm came back. Francis said, "Looks like you guys just had a really good conversation."
Reese said, "Oh yeah. Should I call Amber tonight or let her call me."
Jess said, "Let her call you because he has a guest and you don't want to call at a bad time ya know?"
Francis said, "That's a really good idea."
"Thanks."
They ate their food and left. Francis invited Jess over. Reese said, "I am gonna go upstairs."
Jess and Francis started talking and then they decided to hook up.
During the movie Nick put his arm around me. I didn't care that he did that. When Nick and I got home we went up to my room. He said, "I know that you think you love Reese but it's not real. It's just a thing. You and me are real. We have always been and always will be. Deep down you can feel that, I know it. Deep down I feel it. You just have to realize that Reese is just playing you. You are going to get hurt. I mean you saw it with your own eyes how can you play it off like you didn't see anything. Reese is just some boy that can't fulfill your needs and dreams. You need a real man someone like me."
"I understand what you are saying but I love Reese."
"You may love him but he doesn't love you." He put his had on my face and leaned forward to kiss me. I put my hand up and told him that it wasn't right to Reese and he said, "Trust me it's for you," and he kissed me. I didn't pull away because some part of me was telling me to keep going. I finally pulled away and said, "Don't do that again. You can't take advantage of me being vulnerable."
"I wasn't taking advantage of you. I was making your life better. Believe me you need me." He said, "Besides the boy would have called you if he loves you as much as you say he does." and then he left my room. I wanted him to call me. I didn't want to call him because it would be proving Nick right. I sort of started to believe him about Reese. I tried to convince myself but I kept thinking about everything that Nick said and how I saw Reese and Jess at that restaurant. I finally fell asleep. Reese couldn't fall asleep either. He kept thinking about what Jess had said and how I didn't call him.
