CHAPTER 11
When we arrived at the dance. I danced with Tyler, Bob, Mike, Jay, Chris, Derek, and John. Jen and Reese danced. Nikki told me that he looked like he was having a bad time. I was having fun with all my friends so I felt bad, but I thought he was having fun with Jen. At the last dance she told Reese that she wasn't going to dance with him because she wanted to dance with Mike because she liked him. Reese said Ok and walked away. Reese asked me to dance and I told him yeah. That put a smile on his face. I was having the most fun with him but I still didn't realize it. Nikki came over to us and said, "Picture time come on smile." She took two just in case one didn't come out. After the dance she told Reese that she would give him a copy. Later she told me that she would give me a copy. Reese and I were fine the next day but it still was weird because of what Nikki said to me. Reese kept the picture in his nightstand so I wouldn't see it. I put my picture in my nightstand too. He would take the picture out every night and look at it just the same as I did. I didn't want to admit that I liked him but I did. We were fine for a week until Nikki and I talked on the phone. She told me that we would make a cute couple and we should go out. I told her that I didn't like him and we would never go out because I didn't like him like that. I like him but I didn't want to. Malcolm called me Saturday afternoon. He asked, "What is your problem?"
"What are you talking about?"
"With Reese...you should know"
"I still don't get it."
"Ok he is so upset because you aren't talking to him."
"I am talking to him."
"Yeah ok hi doesn't count...he is seriously like upset about it"
"I don't mean anything by it I am just like confused about everything."
"Yeah well he is really upset...come over and talk to him, but don't ring the door bell."
"Ok...I am coming over, I'll talk to him"
"Ok bye."
When I got over to the Wilkerson's Malcolm was waiting for me at the door. I asked him what was up with Reese and he said well I know but you will have to talk to him about it. I was kind of nervous. I didn't know what was going on with him. I walked to his room and knocked on the door. He was looking at the picture of me and him at the dance. He thought that it was Malcolm at the door so he didn't look up. So I interrupted him, "Hi."
"What are you doing here?" He said as he threw down the picture.
"Umm...what I can't chill with you anymore."
"No that's not what I meant, I was just not expecting it to be you. We don't hang out anymore."
"Yeah we do."
"Like once in a while we never even talk. The last time we actually talked was like before the dance."
"We have talked since."
He walked up to me and said, "Ever since Jen asked me to the dance we don't talk and if I knew it was going to ruin what we had I would have never went with her."
"What do you mean what we had." I said as I walked by him. "We never had anything, it doesn't bother me that you went with her."
"I feel like it did and we did have something."
I started to feel really upset about what he was saying cause I knew he was hurt. "What did we have, we were friends"
"Yeah we WERE friends but that's what it was, we aren't now and I don't understand why not. I mean to me you were so much more than a friend." I didn't want to hear what he was saying because it mad me cry and I picked up the picture and was looking at it. "I mean I didn't care about anything until you came in my life. You don't know how much you mean to me. You know that it is hurting me"
I turned around and looked at him and I was crying. I started shaking my head no.
He walked over to me and said, "It is true you know you feel something for me. I mean you may not see it but it is there."
"Reese I am so sorry."
"No don't be you have feelings for me. Why would this hurt you so much if you didn't?"
"I don't know. I just know that I..."
"Amber can you honestly tell me that you feel nothing for me. You are the world to me. Why can't you see yourself with me, is it something I did." He started to have tears in his eyes.
"No Reese listen I feel the same way for you but you deserve someone better than me, like your friends say."
He wiped the tears off my face and looked in my eyes. "You think I deserve better? I know I don't. I don't believe that I even have you, but you are here right in front of me and that's right where I want you and I can't let you not be with me. You have changed my whole life and I cherish every moment I have ever had with you."
I couldn't say anything to him.
We both looked each other in the eyes and he leaned forward and kissed me. It was a sweet passionate kiss. It lasted for a short time but we both felt so much for each other. He pulled away from me and hugged me. He said, "I love you and I am never gonna let you go will you be my girlfriend."
I pulled away from him and grabbed both of his hands and said, "I love you too. Of course I will be your girlfriend. Don't worry about us being apart again, it's not going to happen." We just smiled at each other and started kissing again. "I guess you can keep this picture out of your nightstand now."
"Umm...I guess I could...but then again I might hide it still."
I shoved him and he said, "What?" and put his arm around me.
Lois asked Malcolm, "What is going on between Reese and Amber?"
"Umm...well... I don't know."
"You do know tell me, they haven't been talking at all lately. Reese is really upset by it too"
"Yeah I know but they are talking now she is over here."
"She is? Go see what is going on."
"Aww... mom"
"GO...you have no choice."
"OK... OK I am going"
Malcolm knocked on the door. Reese said, "Come in."
Malcolm walked in and said, "Umm...hi..."
We both told him hi.
"So are you guys better now."
We just smiled at each other. Reese looked at Malcolm and said "Yeah...so aren't you supposed to be doing something now."
Malcolm got the hint and said bye and left.
"That was mean."
"Well I think he got the hint."
"What are you gonna be a bad boy now."
"We'll have to see about that."
"Really..." I said as I put my arms around my neck.
"Yeah" Then he kissed me.
Lois yelled, "Reese...Francis is home."
I said, "Well I better go home."
"No you don't have too."
"Well spend time with your brother, you never see him. You can see me anytime."
"Ok...I guess that would be ok...I'll miss you."
"I know you will." I laughed at him, "I guess I will miss you."
"You guess?? What's up with that?" He started tickling me. I started hitting him with a pillow so he tackled me.
"Eww... just because you're stronger than me doesn't mean that you can beat me up."
"Uhhh... what I think it does."
"Nope, well I gotta go."
"I'll walk you downstairs."
"Ok"
We walked by his family and I said, "Hi" to them.
They all watched Reese walk me to the door. None of them knew we were going out. We kissed each other good-bye and I left. His whole family was in shock by that. He turned around and saw everyone staring at him. He started smiling and said, "What?"
Francis said, "Damn is that your chick?"
"Umm...well I asked her out a little while ago."
"Dude she is hot."
"She is like everything I want in a girlfriend."
Lois said, "Hunny I thought you guys were going through some bad times."
"We were but now it is all good. You don't understand I have liked her for so long."
Malcolm just stared at him. "I can't believe she said yes."
"Well we both like each other and that's all that matters."
I went home and called Jen. I told her that she was right from the beginning and she told me that she knew that she was right. Hal said, " Get ready because we are gonna go out to dinner in about 30 minutes."
Francis said, "Why don't you call Amber and ask her to come?"
"Umm... I don't know if it will be alright."
Lois said, "You can Reese just tell her to come over in 15 minutes."
Reese called me and asked me if I wanted to go to dinner with them so of course I said yes.
Francis said, "I still don't know how you got a girl like that. Damn"
"She likes me for who I am and that's what I like her for."
Malcolm said, "Reese but your stupid and you don't care about anything."
"Shut up yes I do. I care about Amber"
"That's the only thing."
Francis said, "Anyways, does she have a sister."
Reese just looked at him like are you serious.

CHAPTER 12
I rang the doorbell and Reese answered it. He told me to come in. Reese introduced me to Francis.
Francis asked, "I have a question for you?"
"Yeah"
"What do you see in my brother? He is such a dork."
Reese said, "Shut up Francis."
"All I have to say is why wouldn't I... He has got everything you could possibly want and not to mention how sexy he is." I smiled at Reese. Francis didn't respond he just turned around. We held hands and then we got in the car. We went to TGI Friday's. Reese's friends were there. They went there to eat after the movie. They were in the booth 2 rows over from us. Josh said to Matt, Kim and Ashley, "Look its Reese, is he going out with Amber?" Kim got so mad. Matt motioned to Reese To come over so he jumped over me and me and Malcolm and went over to talk to them. Matt said, "Dude are you going out with Amber."
"Yeah"
"For real"
"Yeah, I asked her out today."
"Is she a good kisser?"
"OMG you have no idea, we are gonna go out for such a long time. I can feel it. We were mad for each other and No one is gonna break us up. My whole family likes her. You just don't know how perfect she is..."
I walked up behind him and tickled him. "Hey baby." I said as I kissed him. "Hi Matt, Hi Josh."
"Reese sweetie you have to go order." Ashley said, "Amber can I talk to you for a minute." Reese looked at me because he was afraid of what was going to happen.
"Sure what is it?"
She got up, "In private lover boy." she joked to Reese.
He looked at me and I gave him a look that he should go.
"Ok what do you want to talk about?"
"About Reese..."
"What about him?"
"You know how Kim liked him?"
"Yeah."
"Well like I am so sorry about the first time we met. I mean we didn't get off on the right foot. I wanted Reese to go out with Kim and I knew how much he liked you so I that's why I didn't like you. I mean I realize how much you mean to Reese and how happy you make him. I guess what I am saying is that Kim will hate you for a while but I was wondering if we could be friends."
"Yeah.... I mean I really like him too and I know that Kim is gonna hate me but it doesn't bother me. I know you were just standing up for your friend so don' t worry about it, we're cool."
"OK.... I just want to clear that up."
"Well I better go back to my table, bye."
As soon as I got back to the table Reese asked, "What did she want?"
"Nothing baby" I smiled at him
"Come on tell me."
"She just said that we are cool. I guess Kim hates me but that is alright."
"That's alright she is stupid anyway."
"Well it's not my fault you're so popular with the girls."
Francis broke in, "So how long have you been going out."
"I already told you we started going out today."
"Well you don't have to be so nasty about it."
"I wouldn't be but you keep asking me."
"Boys" Lois said, "Can't you act decent at a restaurant for once please."
Malcolm kept looking at me and Reese because he thought it was weird that we were going out. He never expected it. Dewey kept asking Francis questions. Lois asked Francis, "How is school going for you?"
"It's boring and so lame mom...I want to come back home."
"You put yourself in there."
"No you put me in there."
Hal looked up from the wine menu, "Francis don't argue with your mother."
Me and Reese we talking quietly to ourselves. Matt looked over to our table and told Malcolm to get Reese's attention. Reese looked over at him and he motioned Reese over to the table. Reese got out again. Francis started telling me about stupid stuff that Reese has done. Malcolm looked over at Reese and gave him a look like... come back now. Reese said, "Hold up, I have to go over there." He walked over to the table. Francis what are you doing. "Nothing really I am just telling amber about when you were little."
Lois said, "Yeah he was so cute when he was little." Reese's mouth dropped as he listened to what everyone was saying.
"Ok let's not talk about me anymore."
"Why not, you don't want to be embarrassed?" Francis asked.
Malcolm started thinking what is Francis doing. Why is he out to get Reese? Reese didn't do anything to him or at least I don't think.
"Just shut up Francis."
"Amber likes hearing about you," he said as he smiled at me.
Malcolm thought OMG... Francis must like Amber or something, either that or he just wants to ruin Reese's relationship. What is he jealous of Reese? Reese started to realize what Francis was doing.
Lois said, "Enough, we are gonna have a nice dinner so stop fighting"
Reese could tell that I wasn't having a good time. When he sat next to me he put his arm around me. Francis and Reese kept exchanging dirty looks. Finally the food came. I felt uncomfortable because of all the weird vibes from the boys. Malcolm kept looking at me. I think he was trying to figure out if I knew what was going on. It was a weird first dinner with Reese's entire family but it was ok. When we went home in the car Reese and Francis looked really mad at each other. No one said anything. Malcolm knew something was wrong with Reese and Francis. Malcolm started thinking about what could be different between them. I looked at Reese and he was staring out the window. "Reese" He looked up at me. "What's wrong?" I whispered. He smiled and took my hand and he whispered back, "Nothing." I smiled at him. We got out of the car and Lois said, "Amber hunny you can stay for a while if you want to."
I said, "I would but I should be getting home. I have a few things to do."
Reese said, "Can't you just stay for a while."
I replied, "Sweetie, I would but I have to do stuff besides I think you should talk to your brother."
I kissed him goodbye and started to walk away and he grabbed my hand and said "I love you." and he kissed me again. I said, "I love you too baby." and I walked away.

CHAPTER 13
Reese went in his room. Francis followed him. When Reese shut the door Francis opened it and asked, "What is wrong with you?"
"What do you mean what's wrong with me, don't you mean you?"
"No I leave and you are the regular Reese and I come back and you are totally whipped."
"I haven't changed."
"Yeah you have, sorry about dinner. I thought you were the same Reese as before. Ya know the one I used to joke with and at least be able to talk to."
"I am the same person."
"No your not. You look the same but you have changed for Amber, but that is all right because I will always be here for you because I am your brother. She might not be." He said as he walked out.
Reese just sat down and put his hands on his head. He started thinking maybe I have changed. I mean I still am the same person. I have a girlfriend, that's the only thing that is different. Then there was a knock on his door. It was Malcolm. Malcolm came in. Reese asked him, "Do you think that I have changed."
"No..... well... umm.... a little."
"So it is true, Malcolm what am I going to do."
"Well you have changed for Amber."
"Yeah so..."
"Well go back to the way you were before."
Francis came in after he was listening on to the conversation. "You will have to break up with her."
"I am not gonna break up with her."
Malcolm said, "But you wanna go back to the way you were. I mean seriously you have new friends now and like you don't hang out with your other friends anymore."
Reese just stared at the floor thinking.
Francis said, "Seriously man, she has changed you. I mean why did she change you shouldn't she like you for who you are and not what she wants you to be." Malcolm thought to himself for the first time Francis is right. He looked at Reese and he knew that Reese actually thought about that. Malcolm broke in "well it's late we should go to bed so we can hang out together."
Reese said, "I can't I am doing something with Amber."
Francis said, "That doesn't surprise me."
Then they both left.

CHAPTER 14
Everyone woke up and ate breakfast. Reese was the last to leave. Lois could tell that something was wrong with him. She asked him what was wrong and he said that he didn't want to talk about it. Reese went over to my house. I answered the door in shock because I wasn't expecting to see him this early. I could tell that he was upset so I told him to come in. I asked him, "What is wrong? Sweetie you look upset."
"Have I changed?"
"Like how."
"Never mind"
"Baby tell me."
"Ok. Last night Francis seemed to be saying stuff to bother me right."
"Yeah"
"Well it used to not bother me. You see it was a joke. We always used to act like that. Then last night we were talking and he said that I have changed ever since I have met you."
"But you haven't you are the same person I have always known."
"You see that's the thing. I was like him until I saw you. Then I changed because I really liked you. I didn't think you would want to go out with someone like me and like..."
"Baby you changed to impress me?"
"Yeah, but now my brothers and me aren't like we used to be."
I put my hand on his face and kissed him. Then I said, "I would love you no matter what you were like. You don't have to change for me anyway you are is perfect for me."
He smiled at me and said, "I guess I should have known that. It's not like you aren't everything I have ever wanted."
I just smiled at him. "Baby you should build your relationship back up with your brothers."
"But what if I want to spend time with you?"
"Then I will go with you."
"Seriously, you want to chill with me and my brothers?"
"Why how bad can it be?"
He just gave me a look like you'll never expect it.
We were watching TV.... but not REALLY watching it. It was 12:00 so Reese decided that we should go over to his house and talk to his brothers. We both walked in and Malcolm quickly looked at Francis to see his reaction. Francis looked at Reese and then smiled at me. Reese immediately grabbed my hand when he saw the look Francis gave me. I looked at Reese like what are you doing, and then said hi to everyone. Then Reese and I walked over to the living room and sat down. Francis asked me, "So are you going to hang out with us today."
"Yeah Reese wanted me too."
"Sweet.... so what are we going to do?" Francis said as he looked at everyone.
Dewey came in the room and sat on my lap, he asked, "Do you guys want to play video games?"
"No Dewey lets go do something more exciting."
Then Dewey slipped his way in between me and Reese.
"Like what?" Malcolm asked.
"Dewey go set up a game, we will be in a minute."
"Alright"
"Ok there is this party..."
"But mom said no parties." said Malcolm.
"Who cares its going to be fun, so you guys in or what?"
Just then Dewey came running in. Francis said, "Pick the players." "So do you guys want to go?"
Malcolm said, "No, It's too risky."
Reese said, "There has to be something better than a party."
Francis looked at me for an answer. I said, "Umm...I would go but no one else is going."
Francis said, "Alright, then what do you guys want to do then?"
Malcolm suggested, "Lets go to the little amusement park. The one with the rides and the arcade."
Francis said, "Well it's not exactly what I was planning on but it will do."
Reese and me just shook our heads. Dewey came back in, "Guys hurry up?"
Francis said, "How about we go to the amusement park instead."
"Ok Yeah..."
Francis got the car and we all went.

CHAPTER 15
Finally we got there. Dewey stayed next to me. We decided what rides we were going to go on. Dewey yelled, "I want to go on the bumper cars." So we went over to the bumper cars. Francis asked, "Dewey who do you want to ride with, you are too short to go on alone."
"Aww... Ok I want to go with Amber"
"Eww Dewey you want to go with a girl? You are gonna get creamed." Francis said as he laughed and looked at me.
I just smiled at Dewey and said, "We'll see about that."
"What are you calling me out?"
"No just stating that we are better than you."
"No way you will lose."
Dewey said, "Francis we are going to get you."
Francis and I just laughed. Malcolm could tell Reese was getting jealous. So he said, "I bet I can get all of you."
Reese was mad so he said, "Yeah right you suck."
I looked at Reese for a reason of why he said that. He knew that I was mad because of how he was acting. He just stared at the ground. Dewey asked, "Reese what is wrong?"
"Nothing why do you care?" Then he looked at me.
I didn't understand why he was acting like this.
Dewey said, "I was just asking."
I said, "Come on Dewey, " as I gave Reese a look to change his attitude. Francis and Malcolm knew not to say anything because they would make it worse. We played on the bumper cars. Everyone tried to have a good time because Reese wasn't. Dewey and I hit everyone. He kept laughing and making fun of Malcolm and Francis for not hitting us a lot. Dewey wanted to go to the arcade. We went and I helped Dewey play. Reese came up with us. Dewey yelled, "Yeah, we got a lot of tickets look Reese."
"That's great Dewey I don't care."
Francis came over, "Reese who... "
I interrupted, "Reese come with me, guys watch Dewey."
"What is your problem?"
"What do you mean my problem?"
"Don't blame this on me you are the one yelling at your brother and not having a good time."
"Well you know you are having a good time only paying attention to my brothers."
"What are you talking about?"
"Oh like you don't know."
"No I don't."
"Alright you are Flirting with Francis and just hanging out with Dewey."
"Excuse me...You think I was flirting with Francis, what was the reason we are hanging out with your brother's in the first place? Because you were having trouble getting along with them. You wanted me to come because you didn't want to be here alone right."
"Right, but you didn't have to ignore me the whole time."
"I wasn't ignoring you, yeah near the end because you were being a jerk, I was being nice to your brother for your sake. I didn't want you to have to choose between me and your brother because that is what would have happened. I was staying with Dewey because what is he like 9 and he needs to be supervised. I mean come on do you feel the need to have competition with your brothers."
"Yeah I understand that but you didn't pay any attention to me like at all and...."
"Ok I tried to talk to you but you were giving an attitude. I just don't get you. I thought you really wanted to go out with me?"
"I did...and I still do, why would you say I didn't?"
"Because you don't trust me. You act like I am going after your brothers."
"I do trust you..."
"No Reese you don't. I mean common. I came her for your sake and you are acting like I am out to hurt you. Reese I'm not. I am your girlfriend remember."
"Yeah I know you are but it's just been different between us."
"Like how."
Francis and Malcolm decided to have Dewey play more games before he asked questions.
"Well before we talked a lot and hung out just us."
"Yeah but did you think we weren't going to associate with anyone else?"
"No it's just you seemed to be having more fun with Francis than me."
"Well yeah... you weren't talking to anyone and when you did you got an attitude when no one did anything to you."
"You were ignoring me."
"No I wasn't I was talking to you. I was talking to your brother because I wanted to be on good terms with him for your sake. Besides I thought you wanted me to come with you to help you get along with your brother."
"I did but I didn't want you to fall for him."
Then he realized that he had said the wrong thing. I looked at him and said, "I can't believe you just said that. You are supposed to be my boyfriend and your linking me with your brother. You know what Reese I am gonna go."
"No Amber wait I didn't mean that."
"Oh really...I thought we were a strong couple. You mean everything to me. How can you just say something like that? Maybe you don't care about me as much as I thought you did or maybe you don't like me as much as you say you do." I started to cry.
"No I really do love you."
"Reese just leave me alone, OK I am gonna go home. I guess you have a lot time to figure out how much I mean to you now."
"Amber you mean so much to me you know how much I love you."
"I thought I did and right now I just can't deal with being with you. If you want to talk to me later maybe we can but just realize what you really want." Then I started walking away.
"Amber but I want you."
I turned around. "How can you say that? If I knew that we wouldn't be having this fight right now. I love you Reese I don't know how else to say it. If you want us to be together why would you say something like that or even think it."
"I don't know I just couldn't deal with it."
"Deal with what?"
"I don't know."
"Then how can you say that? I have to go."
"Amber please don't go."
"Reese if you really love me just let me go ok."
I walked away and Reese turned around and walked in the arcade. Francis and Malcolm were afraid to go over and talk to him. Francis told Malcolm to have Dewey turn in his tickets and meet me and Reese over here. Francis walked over to Reese and said, "What happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Reese tell me."
"It's over she left me."
"Just like that. She's not worth it then."
"Yeah she is I love her so much and I only want to be with her and no one else ever."
"What did she say?"
"I just don't want to talk about it right now OK."
Dewey was paying his tickets. Francis motioned Malcolm over. Malcolm came over. Francis told him to go to the car with Reese. Francis waited with Dewey.
Malcolm asked, "Reese what happened?"
"Amber and I got in a fight... and.... she started saying that I didn't trust her and I was like yeah I do. And I kept complaining that she kept talking to Francis and Dewey. Then I was like I wanted you to come with me and not fall for my brother."
"You shouldn't of said that."
"Then she was like I love you and you mean everything to me."
"Then why did you break up?"
"We didn't really she just said for me to think about what I want and she told me that if I loved her I would let her walk away."
"You let her just walk away."
"Yeah, that's what she wanted."
"But you didn't."
"Lets not talk about this now."
"Ok"
