| CHAPTER 21 In the morning I called over and Reese was still sleeping so I just talked to Francis. I asked if they all were coming to lunch with Nick and I. He said that they were coming. I told them to meet us at TGI Fridays at 12. I felt so guilty that Nick kissed me. I still love Reese but things are more up in the air now than before. Reese woke up and Francis said, "Amber called." "Why didn't you wake me up?" "I don't know." "What did she want?" "She asked if we were going to lunch with her and Nick." "Oh what did you say?" "I told her yeah." "That was it?" "Yeah." "Francis what else did she say?" "Nothing." "Then what is wrong?" "There's nothing wrong with me. Amber seemed to be upset about something." "Did she say?" "No between you and me don't screw up because this could be your last chance with her." "Francis what are you talking about? You are crazy. She would never do that to me. We love each other." "Ok sorry I was just getting that impression." "Alright I don't want to talk about this anymore." "OK Just get ready." Nick took me to the restaurant. Francis took Reese and Malcolm to the restaurant. Nick and I were already there. We were in a booth. Nick and I sat on the same side. He was in the inside. Francis, Malcolm, and Reese shared the other side. We vaguely talked to each other. Francis started to make conversation. Reese just kept looking at me. Nick kept talking to me. Malcolm just looked back and forth from everyone. Nick said, "I made the basketball team. Reese do you do any sports." "No." "Amber, remember when you cheered for my football and basketball team?" Amber said, "Yeah. I don't cheer anymore." "I know you stopped when I broke my ankle." "Yeah." Then Nick gave a dirty look to Reese. Nick said, "So Reese are you in any clubs?" "No." "You don't get out much do you. So what do you do with your time?" "I spent time with Amber." "You must not have a lot of free time then." Reese was getting really mad. He didn't say anything to Nick because he knew that his relationship was riding on this lunch. I didn't want to say anything because I figured they would think that I was taking a side. I could tell Reese was getting really mad so I said, "I'll be right back I gotta check my make-up." Nick said, "This is nice." Reese said, "Yeah, " sarcastically. "So how long have you and Amber been going out?" "Well about 3 months." "She is a really great girl." "Yeah she is." "You know she really deserves better than you." "Why do you think that?" "Well first she needs a real man. Besides you don't treat her like she needs to be treated." "I don't need to listen to your shit. Just because I ain't some rich boy that can buy her the world don't mean that we aren't made for each other. I love her and she loves me and that is all that matters." "Yeah that's why she kissed me last night." "She didn't kiss you." "Yeah she did and your girlfriend won't be your girlfriend much longer. She wants me. Just wait until you get cut." "She would never do that to me." "Ask her she kissed me or maybe she will just lie to you again like she has been doing. You don't have to worry about me interfering because you wont be with her." Everyone was just listening. They were letting Reese fight his own battle. As I was walking back to the table Reese jumped over the table and punched Nick in the face. Nick punched him back and they both fell on the floor punching each other. Reese shoved Nick's face into the floor and said, "Don't ever talk or touch my girlfriend again." Nick punched Reese back and gave him a black eye. Reese punched Nick back and broke his nose and gave him a black eye. Francis grabbed Reese and Malcolm held Nick back. Reese was so mad he just kept trying to get at Nick. The managers came out and took them in the back. The waiters and Waitresses cleaned up the mess. The manager came in the back and said, "Call your parents. We decided not to call the cops. You both are gonna have to pay for the damages. Each will pay half." Reese said, "How much?" "$600 each." "$600." "Yeah call your parents. Here is the phone. That is the only way you can leave." I said, "Reese why did you fight him? I wanted you to go with us because I wanted you two to be cool with each other." "Yeah well it's not happening is it?" "Doesn't look like it." "I can't believe you would just act like that." Then I started to leave. "Amber wait." "What?" "Well I wanted to give you this at a good moment but this looks like my last chance to ever give it to you." He pulled the ring out of his pocket and handed it to me. "Reese what is this for?" "Well I bought it for you because I thought you would like it." "I do." "I wanted to show you how much I love you." "If you love me why did you fight Nick?" "Because he was telling me all this stuff." "What kind of stuff was he saying?" "Stupid stuff like you want him and are that going to dump me for him and that you have been lying to me. That you kissed him." He looked up at me. I could still tell he was upset, "Reese we did kiss. He kissed me." "He what? I am so gonna" "Reese, listen. He kissed me. We saw you and Jess together and I was upset about that and he just took advantage of me being upset. He wanted to make me feel better and make you look like the bad guy. I can't believe he did that." "We weren't on a date I was with Francis and Malcolm too. They just left because she wanted to talk to me about Francis. They are going out now." "Reese I am sorry. I should have talked to you before." "Don't worry about it. If you don't want to go out with me I just want to know now." "I can't believe you just said that to me. You know how much I love you." "Yeah well Nick tried to convince me that you deserve better. I knew you loved me I just wanted to make sure that he wasn't right." "If I do then I don't want better. Reese I just want you." "I love you." He grabbed my hand. I smiled back at him, "I love you too, but you have to call your mom." "She is gonna kill me." "Yeah I know but maybe she will understand." "Yeah right." "Baby, just tell her the truth. She will understand exactly what you are talking about." "I hope your right." Reese called his house Lois said, "Hello?" Reese said, "Hi mom." "What did you do?" "Well, I kind of got in a fight." "Reese what is the matter with you?" "He started it." "Well you have to come over here and pick me up." "What else?" "Well you kind of have to pay $600." "Are you crazy? $600. Reese we just can't pay $600 every time you do something stupid." "But mom I have a good explanation." "It better be the best one that you have ever had." "Is Amber still with you?" "Yeah." "Alright dad and I will pick you both up." "Alright bye." I said, "that sounds like it went ok." "A little better than I expected." "Do you know how many chores I am gonna have to do to pay for this?" "A lot." "Yeah." CHAPTER 22 Lois and Hal finally got there. Nicks mom was also there. Lois said, "Look at yourself. You got a black eye. You shouldn't fight." "I know mom but it was for a good reason." Hal said, "What is it son?" "This kid, Nick." Lois said, "Her ex-boyfriend?" "Yeah that one. Well he started saying stuff to me about Amber that he doesn't like me and all this stuff and I just lost control." Hal said, "That's the way to be a man." Lois said, "Hal you're not helping here." "Sorry." "You know you are gonna pay your father and I back don't you?" "Yeah I figured that." "Good." The manager came in with Nick and his mother. The manager collected the money. Nick said, "Amber are you coming with us?" Lois said, "No I am gonna give her a ride." "Ok so then we will talk when you get to your house." I said, "No we won't I am not gonna go to my house while you're there. You are just gonna try to get me to go out with you and tell me how I deserve better than Reese." Nick's mom said, "Well hunny you do. Why do you want to go out with this trash?" Lois said, "This trash? This trash is my son. Yeah he is not the smartest person or the most perfect person but he isn't as shallow as your rich family. Who so you think you are anyway?" I said, "Yeah well look at the ring Reese got me. Looks like he cares about me as much as he says he does. Besides money doesn't make a relationship. More rich people break up because they just care about their money and they think that it impresses the other person. It doesn't. I wouldn't care if Reese never bought me anything. At least I know he really cares about me." Nick's mom said, "Well I thought you were better than these people. We also decided to stay another week. Maybe by then you will realize your mistake." I just said, "Lets go. I am ready." I walked ahead. Lois looked at Reese and mouthed where did you get that ring Reese? Are you crazy? I turned around when we were outside, "I am really sorry about this." Reese grabbed my hand. Lois said, "It's OK." "Hunny you can stay with us until they leave." "Really thank you so much." Reese just smiled at me. You can sleep in my bed. Lois said, "That's nice of you Reese, you get the couch." "Aww mom. That's not fair." "You don't think your going to get punished for this?" She smiled at him, "We'll talk about that later." I said, "You look tougher with a black eye. "I do." "Yeah its kind of sexy." I said then I kissed him. "For that I am gonna have a black eye everyday." "Well we have a week to make up for lost time," I whispered to him. He smiled and kissed me again. When we got to Reese's I said, "I am gonna go over to my house so I can get my stuff." Lois said, "Why don't you just call your mom first." "Alright." We all went inside. Reese was standing next to me. Lois said, "Reese go put some ice on that eye." "Aww mom why?" "Because I said so. Now go." My mom told me that she will bring my stuff over in a minute, so I said OK. She brought over a bag with my clothes. She asked, "Hunny what really happened?" "Well Nick was saying some stuff to Reese. Reese like blew up at him after like 30 minutes. He was being a jerk to him." "Alright hunny I am going to try to get them to leave." "It's alright you don't have to do that." �Alright. You�re probably right anyway because they wanted to stay a whole week. I will call you tomorrow to figure out what to do about the situation.� �Ok bye mom.� �Bye.� Chapter 23 Reese said, �Aww� mom do I have to sleep on the couch?� �Reese we aren�t discussing this anymore.� �But�.� Lois gave Reese a look telling him not to ask again. I said, �Come on,� as I grabbed his hand. We went into his room. Malcolm and Dewey came up and got in bed too. Reese and I just talked for a while. I said, �Reese what�s wrong?� He just shook his head and looked down. I looked over at Malcolm and Dewey and they both closed their eyes quickly like they weren�t listening. I said, �Come with me.� We both walked out to the living room. I asked him again. He replied, �I don�t know. Like I was thinking about it and I realized how close I was to losing you.� He looked up at me. �Every time that I close my eyes I can see him talking you away from me.� I hugged him and said, �Baby I love you. He can�t take you away from me.� He said, �I know but still. I was just scared because I don�t want to lose you.� Lois said, �Reese come here.� He went over. �You can sleep together I am trusting you. Reese. I think you can handle it.� We both walked in. I fell asleep in his arms. In the morning I woke up and ran my finger down his face. He woke up and smiled at me. I whispered, �I love you.� He stretched and said, �I know,� as he grinned and looked at me. I pushed his side and got up. I said, �You�re a jerk.� He laughed and pulled me back on the bed and said, �I love you too.� I smiled at him and kissed him. The doorbell rang. It was Nick�s mom. She asked for me. I went out and talked to her. She said, �Amber you should really talk to Nick he is really upset about this whole thing. I think that he wants to talk to you. He feels bad about what happened.� �Alright. I guess I kind of over reacted too. I will be over in a little while.� I went inside. Reese asked, �What did she want?� �She wanted me to come back over to my house. She feels bad about this situation.� �You told her no right.� �No I told her that I would come over. It�s not right that I have visitors and I am over here. See what I mean.� �Yeah but� like�� �Baby don�t worry,� I smiled at him, �You know I love you.� �Yeah that�s not what I am worrying about, I know that but Nick doesn�t.� �Baby he knows how much I love you. Trust me.� �I do, just not him.� �Alright sweetie. I am gonna go over there.� I kissed him goodbye and left. Reese looked at his mom, �She seems pretty convincing to me.� �Yeah but I know he is gonna try something.� Chapter 24 I went in my room and looked through a magazine. Nick knocked on my door. I said, �Come in.� He walked in, �We really need to talk.� �Alright.� �I am sorry about last night.� �It�s Ok. I understand you are having some bad times.� He said, �Yeah.� And looked at me �Umm� well I guess I gotta go.� He started to walk out the door and turned around. �You know what I am not sorry about last night.� I said, �What are you talking about?� �I can�t be sorry of what happened. I can�t stop thinking about you. I love you. You mean the world to me. Do you know what it is like watching you and Reese? No you don�t because you are happy. I don�t have someone like that. I look at Reese and think that used to be me. I used to be happy. I used to have the world. You meant everything to me.� �Nick�� �See you don�t know what it�s like from my point of view. We were so good for each other and your parents had to rip you from me. I was missing you so much. I didn�t want to be without you. I thought that if we broke up it wouldn�t hurt as much. But no it hurt worse because before whenever I wanted to hear your voice or hear you say you love me I would just call you. When we broke up I couldn�t call you whenever I wanted or anything like that.� �Nick� I know. I�m sorry, but look at the picture. We got separated. It wouldn�t have lasted.� �Yeah I know. But the real reason we came down here is because my mom and I are moving here. She knows how being away from you has affected me. I am failing school. I have been suspended from fighting. I don�t care about anything anymore. I just need to be with you.� �But Nick we can�t be together. I love Reese.� �Please don�t tell me that anymore. I hate hearing that from you.� �I am sorry but it�s the truth but we can�t be together. �I understand that. You have proved your point, but just being near you will satisfy me more than you�ll ever know.� �When are you moving here?� Well my dad has the movers there now. You know that house they are building down the street?� �Yeah� �That�s where we are gonna live.� �Are you serious. That is like a really big house.� Yeah well that�s just part of it. They didn�t build the living room yet. They are starting that next. The other part is done now.� �Are you serious?� �Yeah. You should see all the stuff that we are moving.� �I still can�t believe how big that house is.� �We have three cars. I don�t know how we are getting all the cars here. I bought a new silver BMW because I crashed my other one. We are gonna stay in an apartment until then. It will be like a week more. I think. My mom called and they are sending in 50 more workers. My room is gonna be huge.� �So when are you moving.� �My mom and I are trying to figure out something. But I am staying here. I am going to school Monday.� �Seriously.� �Yeah and I was hoping to have someone show me around.� �Well I guess I could do that.� �Alright.� Then Nick�s mom came in, she said, �Nick, your father sent your stuff up here. It should arrive in about half an hour. He suggested that you set up your stuff. In case you are the only one staying here. Alright?� �OK I will go down there now. Just to be ready for when they come.� �Alright hunny.� Nick said, �Amber, do you want to help me get my stuff situated?� �Sure� I guess.� |
