Your Own Store!
One way that I have tried is opening an online store for selling t-shirts, mugs, etc.
CafePress lets you open these stores free! You add your own designs, set your prices and all of a sudden, you have your own internet store! CafePress has a program that makes it real easy for you to do, and best of all it's free, they actually print the items and ship them.

Affiliate Programs!
Another way to make extra cash is to create a website of your own and join an affiliate program. This means that you put ads or banner link from your affiliate partners on your site. Then, when visitors to your site click on these links and buy, you get a commission on any merchandise that they buy.
If you want to check out some of the stores that you can link to, you might check out some of my shopping pages. It'll give you an idea of what type of stores that you can become affiliated with. If you'd like, shop some of the stores! After all, it is one of the ways I suppliment my income and it never hurts to find out what kind of service you get before joining yourself.
Once again, affiliate programs are free to join, and how much you make is affected by how many visitors you get to your site and how well you promote the stores that you partner with.

Crafts (Homemade)
If you're handy with your hands, there are quite a few items that you can make in your shop that sell.
Items like wishing wells, bird houses, planters, etc. can be built rather quickly and bring decent prices. Seniors Helping Seniors will be adding links at the side of the page where you can find free plans for many items.
Your profits can be excellent if you can use free materials and it's not as hard as you might think to get free wood for small projects. If there's a roof truss building plant in your area, check with them on getting scrap wood. They usually have truck loads of one and two foot pieces of 2X4, 2X6 and 2X8 that they give away. Otherwise they have to pay to haul it.
Cabinet manufacturers have scrap on a daily basis, and it's usually hardwoods.
Farmers are putting up new machine sheds all the time and the old barns they tear down have excellent wood for making old looking bird houses and flower garden decorations
You can sell from your front yard, flea markets or on consignment at local stores.
