| Urban Funk Connection is made up of bandleader, Mei Sheum on keys, Jimmy Lee on skins, Joshua Wan on electric bass, Stephen Rufus on saxes, Daniel Chai on guitars and Anne Weerapass on vocals. All are remarkable musicians in their own right, with impressive 'CV's to boot. Among all five members, they have played with international artists such as Ernie Watts, Vanessa Rubin, Keiko Lee, O'Donel Levy and Eldee Young. They have also performed, recorded or arranged music for regional artists such as Ah Mei, Sandy Lam, Jackie Cheung, Jeff Chang, Kit Chan, Mavis Hee, Tanya Chua, Dick Lee, Eric Moo, Sally Yeh, George Lam, Sky Wu, Daniel Chan, William So, Francis Yip and The Singapore Symphony Orchestra. The members of the UFC have also been involved in National Day festivals, notable local as well as international musicals and jazz festivals. Their present high professional level of playing is a combination of their individual talent coupled with a sound musical education in such esteemed institutions of higher musical education such as, The Berklee College of Music in Boston, Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and Drummer Collective in New York. Together as Urban Funk Connection, they will celebrate body & soul with their sound, bringing you mix of acid, funk and cool jazz. |
