| Michael Veerapen When discussing Malaysian Jazz, the name most people would associate with would be pianist, Michael Veerapen. His studies at the prestigious Berkless College of Music proved to be a major factor towards making him the renowned jazz pianist he is today, a composer, a musical director for many of Malaysia's top performers, an owner of a successful music production company and also a music teacher. Michael has performed at various jazz festivals and concerts with many illustrious musicians and singers such as Eric Marienthal, Dionne Warwick, Eugene Pao and Billie Davis Jr., earning himself the greatest respect from fellow musicians as Malaysia's true musical treasure. In recent times, he has put together several 'duet' performances with his eminent colleagues, with the aim of challenging himself in the more difficult and demanding styles of jazz performance and improvisation. Having spent the last 30 years as a professional musician of the highest standards, he still hangs on to his fervent hope of becoming a piano player..."when I grow up". |
