| Brian Benson Brian Benson has played in the rhythm section for Chuck Mangione, Nat Adderly, Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney and numerous other acts in the U.S. He also held the bass chair in the Rochester Pops Orchestra under the musical directorship of Grammy winner Jeff Tysik. He has also been a featured soloist in the Chicago Jazz Festival and has performed at several other festivals in the US, Malaysia and Singapore. Brian relocated to Asia several years ago to assume his position as resident bassist in The Jeremy Monteiro Trio, recording and touring with the band, In 1998, Brian relocated to Malaysia for one year to perform with Michael Veerapen. During that year, he toured with James Moody, performing at The Singapore Arts Festival and The Civic Centre in Hong Kong. Upon his return, he began his collaboration with Claressa Monteiro as her arranger. Brian is musical director to 'Pastiche' and is solely responsible for the band's arrangements. He continues to be a highly sought after musician as well as arranger and recent credits include scoring a Japanese language version of 'Aladdin'. He co-wrote and arranged the promotional music for the !st Singapore International Jazz Festival held in May 2001 and has arranged a series of big band charts. Brian has appeared as bassist on four CD releases since his arrival and shares arrangement credits on two of them. In July 2002, Brian's work as an arranger and bassist is featured on the Universal/EmArcy jazz release; 'Now & Then', Claressa Monteiro's debut jazz CD. |
