| About Devorah's Story-telling and Music Devorah is a professional singer and songwriter and a Music and Library Specialist and Creative Arts teacher in private schools in NYC and Westchester, NY. She has been an Early Childhood teacher for over fifteen years.see teaching resume/ Her unique storytelling and music programs and performances are always interactive and highly engaging. She plays guitar and keyboard and incorporates movement activities in her all of her music programs. Devorah has a love for working with children with all kinds of "special needs". . . "All of the Creative Arts that we explore have been an empowering bridge for the children that I have worked with...including those with "special needs" challenges. Something I'm shown consistently is that music in particular provides a pathway which I can rely on to "get through"and enable a connection that is sometimes so illusive in other settings. I look for ways of meeting each child where they are and guiding them into the world of the creative arts through hands-on experiences in art, dance, drama, creative writing. There is nothing more inspiring to me than to witness a child making that magical and hopefully life-long connection with the arts and their own creativity and confident self-expression. To foster that bond in the lives of so many amazing children has been a true blessing in my life." New York audiences from The Central Park Zoo to the Children's Museum of Manhattan have loved her interactive concerts and performances. As a teacher, her unique ability to combine her talents in Devorah's new CD, "And Then...." (music for children and their families) contains her original music and lyrics, including her much loved story-songs. "These songs were directly inspired by getting to know my favorite teachers- the children! Thank you so much!" d.s. There is an obvious jazz influence in the music that comes from her twenty years of experience as a Jazz singer. (see Jazz bio) With heart and whimsical humor, her writing reflects her empathy and understanding of children's emotional lives and the issues that are important to them "I wish to express a special Thank you! to Fred Rogers (MisteRogers) and to Josie Carey - the "grandest" friends to all children. Thank you for inspiring me to do this work." D.S. Sponsorship: If you would like to add your financial support for the completion and sharing of this CD project "And Then..."Please see below. You may request sound files from the project to hear what its all about! Your support will be gratefully acknowledged in the CD brochure. b"H |
