The Executioner Sword also known as the Ngulu (Nuh-Goo'-Loo) was made by the Ngala (Nuh-Gah'-Luh) Tribe located in the Congo Region of Southern Africa. It is often difficult for people to think of weapons, especially an executioner's sword, as art but the Ngulu would definitely qualify.
Now here's a picture of my personal Ngulu. I think of this as the highest level of art and craftsmanship. If they just wanted to lop of someone's head, any squared off blade sharp enough would have sufficed. No, the Ngulu is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Pride and care was used in the creation of these special pieces of both culture and, yes, art. Obviously, I think mine is the best I have ever seen. It contains all the items I consider important that I listed on the "WHAT TO LOOK FOR" page.
