No word from my doctor's office.  I've called every day, even twice a day leaving messages for Amy.  Still no response.  If I have to I will go back to the office and ask to speak with her myself.

On another note, I've been busy with unemploymen?t these past two days.  I've hooked up with a career counselor and will be looking into recieving a $4000 grant to go back to school and a possible job as a nurse's aid, or in a doctors office.  ??I'm encouraged by the fact that there is a support system there that will help me accomplish my goals.  It's about time the tides start to turn.  I just wish that I can get another extention with my unemployment so I wont have to work full time to pay the bills.  I really need this to happen for me.  No more grunge work, I'm 31 yrs old and I need a career.

Nuff said on that, its time to hit the hay, I have a big day tomorrow.  My BF got called down to NYC for an interview to be on
"Queer Eye for the Straight Guy".  I'm so excitied.  My BF is not that enthused, but is willing to go through it for me if he gets picked.  Cross your fingers he does, it could mean a whole new apartment for me, and finally decent clothes for us to go out in.  Well I promise to let you know what happens in NY.  Ciao!!!!

Wednesday January 7, 2004:
What a day.  I didn't think we would ever get to the studio in Manhattan on time, and truthfully we didn't.  We were 25 minutes late!!!!!  We went in anyway, what the hell, we came all this way we had to try and see if they would still see us.  We sat there with another couple waiting, when Danielle (the casting director) came out she checked our names and the couples then asked if the other couple minded if they let us in for a quick chat.  They agreed and there we went.  We apologized for being late, and Danielle was like, no problem, we are just so excitied you came, we were really hoping you would show.  Eureka!!!  The interview went great (what was supposed to be 10 minutes turned into 30).  My BF charmed her, and showed her he was a biker with a heart.  She loved how we met, living next door to each other.  She commented how cute we were together (a plus).  I have to admit, my BF was really good.  He really impressed her and me.  She even had a storyboard about how they would run the show about him in the beginning, and asked if they could be let into his garage to see his bikes and the bike he is building in progress.  She said they were looking for a greaser mechanic for a spot on the show (we just might fit the bill).  Before we left she asked if we had a preference when they could shoot (wondering about my surgery, if I wanted to wait until after I had it)  we told her we were available whenever they were, and didn't have to wait until after surgery.

This doesn't mean he's been picked, but it does sound very promising.  As we left Danielle asked the other couple to come on in and invited the GF with the guy, but she declined.  I think she made the mistake not going in.  Danielle was very happy to have me come in, and seemed disappointed when the girl didn't want to.  That doesn't make for good TV if she is going to shy away.  Funny thing is, none of the guys waiting to be seen looked like they needed a makeover, they were all clean cut and preppy looking.  The guys they've made over were a mess and needed help.  Don't get me wrong my BF is not always a mess, he just wont spend money on a nice outfit.  And he's always in jeans and biker t-shirts.  Hello he's crying for help.  He even told her he's been like this since he was 16, so its time for a change.  I really hope he gets it, not just for me, but for him.  He really doesn't think he looks good, he doesn't have much confidence.  He may be 51, but he is still good looking and has a great body (not to mention his rear end).  But all in all its a great experience, and I told him, no matter what he has to commend himself for the fact that he called 2 days after I sent the email and his pics.  Out of hundreds and probably thousands of emails he got picked right away, and he should be proud with that.

Well now back to my dilemma.  Amy still has not called me.  I stopped by the office and left her a letter asking her to call me, and pleading my case on how short my time is left.  Truthfully, I have till April to have surgery and then I lose my Cobra.  This can't be in vain.  Well I continued to call her, and left her only 2 messages.  By this afternoon, I called the office and asked Peggy for an appointment to see her.  Peggy told me she should be calling me tomorrow, but if she doesn't she gave me next Tuesday to see her and get an appointment.  I wish I made an appointment with her last week.  I am running out of time, and I have no choice not to take a job.  All I can say is that they will not be happy when I need 2 weeks off after just starting.  Just say a prayer for me please.  Let's hope we can start reading a post op journal next month.  Well I'm out, and guys if you get a chance, stop by and sign my guestbook, I'd love to hear to hear from you.  Ciao!!!

Okay just a quickie update.  Amy called this morning, she apologized, and I apologized for being a pest.  I'm keeping my appt with her next week for a weigh in and stuff, there is no date yet, but she said she will get me in Febuary.  Not what I really wanted, but it's better than nothing.  Hopefully I will know more soon.  I'll let you know as soon as I do.  Ciao!!!
