Latest Release 8.9

Download the public Beta 8.9 (patch install):

PUBLIC BETA 8.9

To install simply unzip the downloaded file to your root installation directory.

  • Changed over to a different random number generator.  See the included MersenneTwisterLicense.txt file for details.  Not sure if this will help the complaining or just give something new to complain about.  :)    (You should see no difference in the game itself, it just gets it random numbers in a different way.)

Download the public Beta 8.8b (patch install):

PUBLIC BETA 8.8b

To install simply unzip the downloaded file to your root installation directory.

  • Changed the time limit option to also have an extended time limit.  The extended time limit is a pool of minutes that can be used for emergencies during the game.  The default is 15 minutes per coach.  See the readme.txt file for full details.
  • By default now the chat pops up in a separate window.  You can change this default in the option dialog to make it work like it used to.
  • Since I don't see java fixing their bug in the control I use to display html (team rosters, etc) I switched to using a different control that seems to be working ok.

Download the public Beta 8.8a (full install):

PUBLIC BETA 8.8a

To install simply unzip the downloaded file to your root installation directory.

  • Added an "Enforce Turn Limit" option.  See the Readme.txt file for full details. By default this will be off for FUMBBL games until Christer decides toactivate it.
  • Fixed a bug that would allow a player to block with more than once in a turn.
  • Not that I recommend or have tested with Java 1.6 but I added tags in that at least make jbb aware of it.
  • 8.7 Notes Below
  • Don't get too excited.  Just a few fixes I have been sitting on.
  • Volume setting is saved when you close the program.
  • You can now throw long bombs when using the large field option.
  • You can separately turn on/off the painting of the white and black roster numbers in the player portrait.  See the readme.txt file for details.
  • Included is the new "Large Fields" option.  See the readme.txt file on how to use it.
  • Included is a very nice (but unfortuntately incomplete) set of large field icons mostly by Pat, with some stars by Barnlato.
  • Included is the new full set of normal field icons by Nick Kelsh.
  • Included is the new set of portraits made by Pat.
  • The icons.ini file now supports a [PLAYERS] section.  See the readme.txt file for how to use it.
  • There is only a full download and not a patch since some of the directory locations changed with this version.

  • For Mac OS users try using the Mac install created by Luke. It can be found at this link: http://www.witwat.net/luke/javabbowl/
  • Dragoonkin has created a web based installer that can be found here: http://jbbinstall.thewbbf.com
  • **** Special thanks to Christer Kaivo-oja for spending the time writing a proxy server for connecting and spectating Java Bbowl games. NOTE: You can still spectate games without this proxy server. It is mainly used to get around firewalls.
  • On that note, the game now supports connecting through this proxy. The proxy will be a separate download. View the readme.txt include in this patch for details on how to connect to a proxy server. The proxy is made for people who cannot connect directly. Games through the proxy have increased risk of getting corrupted when network connection problems arise. Use direct connect games unless you have no other choice (such as both you and your opponent are behind firewall you have no control over).
  • **** Special thanks to Christer Kaivo-oja for creating a java bbowl replayer that can be used to watch a replay of a game using the messages.log file (or the log file located inside the results .zip file) You can download the latest JBBReplayer here: http://jbbreplay.fumbbl.com/
  • Special thanks to Nicholas Kelsch for letting me use his excellent player icons. http://nkelsch.planet3k.com/
  • Special thanks to Fabien Lanselle for ogre (#6), minotaur (#2), bull centaur (#2), and the peasant images currently being used as vampire thralls.
  • Special thanks to Cataphract (Jordan Raskopoulos) for contributing the snotling pump wagon icon.
  • Special thanks to Remi D. for contributing the chaos warrior, wood elves, and ghoul icons. http://bloodbowl.skijunkie.free.fr/
  • Special thanks to BloodbasherMasher for making the star player icons and gathering their portraits.
