The city of Brugge is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. It's worth the trip. It also contains one of the only sculptures by Micheal Angelo to leave Italy during his life time. The Madonna and Child.

Bamberg is a small but beautiful city in Bavaria. It was untouched by the bombings of WWII and so is full of original architecture. It also boasts some of the best bier en Deutschland. I suggest you try the Rauchbier, (smoked beer).
The Sch�ne Brunnen or beautiful fountain has stood in the N�rnberg Hauptmarkt since 1396. This is truly a great city, though like Cologne it was mostly destroyed in the 2nd war it was quickly, and meticulously rebuilt. Now also like Cologne, it is a refreshing mix of the old and new Germany.
In N�rnberg I met with my friends the Lassners, Josef und Anjelica. We met originally in Yosemite in 1997 and I always visit them when I am in Europe. They also have two beautiful daughters, Judith und Vera. September 1998

This site when it is finished will narrate my travels since I left Yosemite in September 1998 for Poland to study Polish language, history and culture. Since that time I have been to many places. Here are some of my memories. My flight left from San Francisco went direct to Brussels, Belgium, where I made the short trip by train to Brugge.
The city of Brugge is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe. It's worth the trip. It also contains one of the only sculptures by Micheal Angelo to leave Italy during his life time. The Madonna and Child.
Brugge with it's many canals, is a magical place at night.
Brugge was an important port city in it's day, but eventually the port silted up and it lost it's prominence so the city itself dried up, which is why it was so well preserved.

From Belgium I got a ride with a British couple to K�ln, in northern Germany, where I met with my friends Lutz & Tomas. Cologne is one of the oldest cities in Germany, founded by the Romans in 50 AD. The Cethedral was the tallest building in Europe until the Eiffel tower was built.
