S. H. NEWBY BLACKSMITH SHOP
Was located in the building that housed Jasonville's first school and was located on the corner of South Meridian and Cook Streets.  It was lost in the fire.
We believe this was taken behind Newby's Blacksmith Shop
The fire leaped across the street and ignited the Goldstein Opera House, located at the corner of North Meridian and East Main Streets. It then claimed the other businesses in the block including the Wm. Meade saloon, Hurst restaurant, W. H. Slough barbershop, Wm. Keen & Joe Humphrey's Saloon, Pat Hagerman poolroom, Jim Dobbs' Saloon, Chinese Laundry, and the depot and freight house.
We believe this picture was taken on East Main Street and the building on the left that is burning is the flour mill.
