Another study suggests that marriage breakdown may be a factor in the development of homosexuality, in that it forces children to take one parent over the other. According to Dr. Dickson, "A lack of healthy triangulation may result in the developing boy finding himself 'stuck' between parents. He must choose one parent over the other. It appears that this phenomenon is present and much more extreme in homosexual development." (Source: Dissertation, "An Empirical Study of the Mother Son Dyad in Relation to the Develpment of Adult Male Homosexuality: An Object Relations Perspective", by Gregory Dickson, Ph. D, 1996)

This same study also found that 49% of homosexuals surveyed, compared to less than 2% of heterosexuals, reported having been sexually  abused. Given that rape is a traumatic pyschological event, would it be irrational to assume that it had some  impact on sexual development? Or is that just too logical?

Change IS Possible:

Many in the homosexual population and in the media, claim that any change in sexual orientation is merely a smoke and mirrors game. Well, let's examine the facts:

After treatment of exclusively homosexual clients, one  report found that  19% of the men finished analysis as totally heterosexual. Half of those considered bisexual were also considered heterosexual post-treatment. With a the sample of 106 men being considered, 27% of clients reported a shift to exclusive heterosexuality. This is very impressive given that 33% of the sample did not express a desire to change their sexual orientation. (Source: Bieber et al Homosexuality,1962.  New York, Basic Books, Inc.)

One Doctor reported that in his practice, 20 out of 45 gay men (44%) seen in psychoanalytic psychotherapy between 1966 and 1977 achieved, "full heterosexual functioning". (Source: Socarides, C. The Psychoanalytic Theory of Homosexuality: With Special Reference to Therapy, 1979. New York, Oxford Press.)
