2. And then in June, APA launched an attack on fatherhood carrying an article entitled, "Deconstructing the Essential Father." The article was published following the study of 200 fathers and stated that traditional fathering is a "neo-conservative" construct, and that fathers do not make a unique or essential contribution to child development. (of course this is not born out in developmental studies of children without fathers, but hey, when politics become science who can argue the facts.) Dr. Louise Silverstein, one of the study's authors, told cns.news.com in an interview that she objects to the "neoconservative privileging" of the ideal of heterosexual marriage that is used to "generate social policy that discriminates against mother-headed families, gay fathers, and lesbian mothers." So, to summarize, pedophilia isn't a mental illness unless it interferes with some element of the perpetrator's life, and in fact, in many cases, is perfectly alright because it really has no negative impact on the children anyway. And, fathers aren't really important in the raising of children. They represent an outdated model of parenting which serves no purpose other than to repress both women and children. Oh ya, and homosexuality is not a mental disorder anymore. hmm.... |

There has actually been a great deal of research that suggests that homosexuality is a mental illness and that it can in fact be cured.
One study examined the root cause of homosexuality and found a number of psychosocial factors came into play. It found that children who later became homosexuals: suffered from alienation from same-sex peers and poor relationships with their fathers.
