Beau was our first Maremma, and first dog. He got on well with the cats, probably owing to a scratch on the nose at a young age! When was almost 5 years old he died one morning of bloat. Beau's hobbies included getting humans to chase him (usually involving the clothes on the clothes line) and licking human ears. He loved chicken wings, and taught us to wear shoes in the yard by leaving his bones all over the place!
Beau got really confused in training. This was probably because dogs can only hear vowel sounds. Since we used "No", it would have been very hard for Beau to recognise any difference between his name and us telling him that he wasn't doing what we wanted.
When Beau was a puppy, he was picked up all the time. As he got heavier, he was picked up less and less, untill never. So when he was picked up once when he was full size, the face he made was hillarious! |
