Before learning Japanese grammar, it is always better to know Japanese alphabetical system. It helps you understand where words separate within a sentence. Also, it gives you an idea how to pronounce Japanese words.

Hiragana is one of the Japanese alphabetical system. They are consisted of 5 syllables and 14 consonants. The five syllables are a, i, u, e, o. The fourteen consonants are k, s, t, n, h, m, y, r, w, and (g, z, d, b, p). But, the above table only contains former 9 out of 14 consonants because we are going to look at only basics in this page. Point each character with your mouce, then you can look at its pronounciation. Those 46 characters are like alphabets in English. They are very basic componets of Japanese.
