Past Miss Optimists Meeting
On this night we visit with some of our previous Miss Optimists. We find out what they have been up to and what their current interests are. We also bid a fond farewell to our current Miss Optimist Jena Iwata and thank her for her fine efforts this year. Although we can no longer salute our outgoing President Jae Lee with whipped cream pies, we can still have fun. I wouldnt wear a good suit yet if I were he. Come join us and see what creative ways we can send Jae into presidential "retirement".
Sheriffs Round-Up
This is it. I am finally looking at the end of my year as President of this beast we call JAO. Regrets, I have a few. We have done a lot of good things this year. We have helped an enormous amount of kids through our various programs and made a difference in their lives. Being President, I get to take credit for your actions and efforts. Being President, I get to lead and watch you take the ball and run with it. As for my regrets, I dreamed of bigger, better, more. After all is said and done, my advice to incoming President Jeff Tani is, "The only regret you dont want to have is that you didnt dream big enough". Aim high Jeff, Its better to aim high and miss than to aim low and make it. I can live with the regrets I have because we didnt aim low. Thanks to my Wife, my Board, My Miss O, the Club members, all of our friends and family for making my year a great year.
Jae Lee
JAO President
Announcements
Scrapbook Meetings
The next Scrapbook Meeting is scheduled for September 28th at Toyo Miyatake Studios in San Gabriel.
Next meeting...
On October 4th we will again host residents of the Optimist Youth Home and Optimist Group Homes as our honorees for our annual Youth Appreciation meeting. If you havent come to one of these, it is a great reminder as to what Optimism is all about. The guests will talk about their accomplishments and their hopes for the future. Considering where some of these kids have come from, it is great to know they havent given up on life or lost their ability to seek higher goals. We will probably get an update on the Youth Home as well.
Hackers Golf Tournament
Come and show off you golfing prowess, or come out to see newly installed President Jeff Tani duke it out with perennial contender Russel Fujii for the JAO Hacker award. Last year was a tight struggle between the two, but Jeff prevailed. See if Russ can take back the trophy. The cost is expected to be the same as last year, $55.00. Includes practice range, golf, cart, BBQ and prizes. Call Gerald Wong to reserve your spot at (714) 355-5888.
Halloween Party
Save the date. The annual Halloween party will again be held at Maryknoll on October 28th. Candy donations will be taken at the October 18th meeting.
