"I live in upstate NY and have a sister-in-law who lives in Florida. Her parents are from California, but were visiting her in Florida when the first alarm came that Jane was really closing. Sooo - I call C---- and tell her, "You've got to see this!" She talks to her mom (who loves Les Mis, by the way) and as they're talking her mom says - "your Dad and I would love to go with you - we've never seen anything on Broadway before and probably won't have the chance again...! So I order tickets and C's mom and dad fly to Florida on a Thursday. The next Saturday they fly to

"Living in CA with two parents and an older sister who love musicals, it wasn't too hard to persuade them to go to San Francisco to see Phantom of the Opera or Les Miz. As of last year, I'd taken one (successful) trip to New York, with my family, to see a few shows. My sister was brilliant at convincing my parents that they really had to go see The Scarlet Pimpernel. And, in April of 2001, she also convinced them (with my help) to see Jane Eyre. I saw 4 shows that week, but Jane Eyre plays best in my mind. I remember being absolutely mesmerized

by the set design - the floating scenery in 'Sweet Liberty', the gorgeous garden and Bertha's fall at the end (still don't know how they did that). James Barbour was amazing as Rochester, and Marla was Jane Eyre. I loved, pretty much, every moment. I was rather annoyed when I saw how the Tony's cut 'Sirens' and even more so when they closed. I am still hoping for the tour to commence. :-)" ~ Julie (California)
upstate NY and we procede to catch the train Sunday AM to see the matinee. We had a great lunch at a restaurant and sat just across from the billboard for Jane!! The show was super from the mezzanine. Of course we were exhausted, but we have the wonderful memories....! For the real closing - I came to the show with my daughter on a "date." We didn't have tickets this time and were a little concerned at seeing the line at the ticket booth at the Brooks. Never fear. The man asked how old my daughter was and upon learning she was 13, proceded to give us both "student" price seats in the $90 section! They were fabulous! We could finally see expressions perfectly - and finally "take it all in"! There's SO MUCH to Jane Eyre - one pass won't do. Neither will two! James Barbour mentioned that John Caird likes to layer the meaning - and I agree: it's about 5 layers deep in Jane. May Jane "sing on" in a tour someday soon!!!" ~ Leah (New York)
