We stalled 3 more times on Las Vegas Boulevard. At least this gave us more time to stand and stare at crazy Vegas. To the Americans Las Vegas is known as Sin City. Vegas bears absolutely no resemblance to any other place we have travelled through so far.

Treasure Island's show
The Strip is an amazing place. It is lined with Casinos each vying to gain your custom. Many are built on a theme, for example, The Venetian, which offers the visitor gondolar rides. Others, such as Treasure Island, put on shows. There is nothing more surreal than watching an eighteenth century American ship sink a British frigate, to the tune of Rule Britannia, in the middle of a city surrounded by desert.
As well as having themed decor to tempt you into their Casinos, the gambling dens also have a number of other 'attractions'. These include all you can eat buffets and dare I say it, cabaret acts. These 'turns' would not be out of place in your local working man's club. Each casino had its own band complete with Yamaha keyboard and dodgy vocals. The most 'entertaining' was at Ceasar's Palace. There, punters grooved on down to YMCA, whilst standing on a moving slave ship. What a sight, what a night and what a place!
