Nevada
27th May to 31st May 2003
After saying a fond farewell to Arizona we were hoping that Nevada would also provide us with the opportunity to have a good time.  This optimism disappeared literally 1 mile across the border.  As we were approaching the long and steep hill into Boulder City Liz mentioned that the acceleration wasn't working properly. The engine stalled, the steering failed and more dangerously, the brakes did too.  Fortunately for us there was a run off to the side.  With less than 5 metres to go before the end, Liz managed to bring the RV to a standstill.  We had no choice but to call for tow truck number 3.  Two hours later we were sitting on the forecourt of garage number 13 relieved to be still in one piece but dismayed to be at another garage.
Do you guys need a lift?
Tow truck number 3
What was causing the RV to stall?  We didn't think this was possible with an automatic but we were told that the following could cause this to happen, electrical problems, the ignition, carbouretter, a faulty fuel pump and hot temperatures.  As the outside thermometer had reached a scorching 120 F that day we were pretty convinced that the weather was having some kind of effect on the van.  The mechanic replaced a spark plug lead that had burnt against the exhaust and we continued our journey to Las Vegas.
whatever ...?
see ya
You can collect mail from any Post Office if its addressed with your name, followed by 'General Delivery' and the address of the P.O. You'll have 10 days to pick it up before they return it to sender. I was very lucky the day I got mine from Boulder City. I thought I had 30 days in which to collect and one package was in an out tray waiting to go back while a very important parcel from my mum was in lost property as she hadn't written a return address on. It should have been returned 10 days prior.
Tip!
N.B. The power steering and hydraulic brakes are connected.  Neither work when the engine is switched off.
take me...
