Luckily for us there was Steam Boat Charlies Sports Bar and Grill just a roll down the hill away.  We spent Friday night and Sunday night there.  Not many in on Sunday,  we played pool with a Gulf War vet and Jane won.  Talked about the Southern rednecks and racism with him and the landlady as Jane had been mistaken for a KKK member by some black guys earlier due to her mohican . She was from California and feels that the South is lost in time.  When she was first in the area she was summoned to her children's school to find out why they didn't use the prefix/suffix 'maam' when addressing the teachers.  Everyone has referred to us as 'maam' since we got here.
After waiting an extra day at Cecil Graves for the wrong hose to be sent back and the correct hose to arrive (and pay over $400!!!???) we set off at full steam for New Orleans.

Our weekend at St. Francisville coincided with their pilgrimage weekend.  Oh what fun!  Most of the 19th Century houses in town were opened up to the public and the ladies and gents paraded in their finest 19th Century clothes.  Everything was very quaint and cosy and nice and nobody mentioned slavery.
