We found Minni under a Christmas Tree! It was Dec. 19, 1984. We had just lost our Lilli Honi on Oct 9th of that year. I didn't want to celebrate Christmas that year, let alone get a tree. I took Lilli Honi's death very hard.
But, Jeff kept insisting that we at least go look for a tree at "Flower Time", a local Nursery by us. I finally gave in. The very first tree I pulled out had Minni under it. She stared up at me. She looked so much like my sweet Lilli Honi. Minni started to run. I called her. "Lilli"?? I said...."is that you"?? She stopped and started to twitch her tail, just like Lilli used to do. I called to Jeff. I said look over there. And she was still standing there twitching her tail and marching with her back feet. The people that worked there told us she had been hanging around there for a little while, and they had been trying to find her a home. She used to sleep on a big stuffed Santa's lap.
We took Minni home with us....and we bought the tree we found her under too. Now she sleeps on Jeff's lap. I named her Lilli Minni, because that was a nickname I used to call Lilli Honi. I don't believe in reincarnation, at least not in people. But, this story sure does make me wonder about it in cats. Minni fit right in with the rest of my "Ladies". She acted so much like Lilli.
Just after we lost Lilli, I told Jeff, I have a feeling she's going to come back to me. And if she does, it will be between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. And it happened...it really happened. Sometimes I still can't believe it myself, but every word of this story is true.
Minni helped to lift me out of a deep depression. She helped me to come to life again, because I felt as though a part of my Lilli had come to life again with her. She's not timid like my Lilli was though, she's a tough little girl. She's a lot feistier too.
Years later I realized that "Flower Time" was the perfect place to find a "Lilli". I know God led us there that night, and to her. I'm very grateful for this little ball of fur...she was one of my best Christmas gifts ever!
We lost our beloved Minni on November 19, 2003.
