Kiki Dee's Page

Kiki Dee.

He was one of our first cats. Orange and white, a terror to anyone else, but the love of our lives. We found him when he was about six months old, on December 21, 1976. He was our all-time favorite cat. Playfull as all h*ll. One of his favorite games was to sit in the bathtub, and wait for one of us to throw a glass of water into the tub for him to chase before it went down the drain. He must have been part Turkish Van; they're known to actually like water!

In Sept. of 1991, Kiki developed kidney failure due to lymphoma. We tried chemotherapy, but unfortunately, by the time we started treating it, it was too late. We lost him on September 14, 1991.

Here are some of the poems that Diane wrote for her special little boy...

For Kiki Dee

As you lay there on my bed
A thousand things go through my head.
I wonder what you think of me
And of your life, my Kiki Dee.

I wonder what brought you that night
To my door with eyes so bright.
And how you ever came to be
MY sweet and lovely Kiki Dee.

I wonder what made you so smart
And how you knew to win my heart.
No one could ever disagree
It's now yours, my Kiki Dee.

You were number six back then.
We had five, but took you in.
You fit in oh so easily,
My little kitten, Kiki Dee.

But as you grew, we learned one thing,
That you were meant to be the king.
And now it's very plain to see
We ALL bow down to Kiki Dee.

But how can anything so sweet,
With golden eyes, soft little feet,
Terrorize with such glee?
Alas, that is my Kiki Dee.

Playfully running round the house
Swatting balls and his toy mouse.
Then in the tub, wet as can be.
No other cat like Kiki Dee.

You fill my life with so much joy,
My cute and precious little boy.
And I shall live eternally
Devoted to my Kiki Dee.

My Kiki Dee

There was a young cat who was lost in Oakdale
Who was little and frightened and ever so frail.
His eyes were quite rounded, and sparkling and bright.
His fur was a majestic orange and white.
And as we both stared purposefully at each other,
I felt him wondering if Id be a good mother.
I thought this is crazy, and who would envision
That adopting this cat would be his decision.
And before what I thought was only a whim
Was out of my hands, and now up to him.
And as he grew closer, my eyes they did beg.
He answered quite quickly with a rub to my leg.
Now four years later its so plain to see,
Ive adopted him; or was it he me?
I feed him and play with him, and give him a treat,
And if Im real lucky, hell sleep by my feet.
Ive trained him quite well, just as soon as he calls,
I quickly come running with his toy mouse and balls.
Im allowed to pick him up with only one catch,
That when he wants down, he says so with a scratch.
Hes so cute and so playful, and brings such joy to me.
Hes so sweet and so lovable, hes my Kiki Dee.

Kiki

There are hundreds of reasons
Why we love Kiki.
Hes smart and hes sweet
And as cute as can be.

He sleeps right between our legs,
And purrs throughout the night.
And after hes cleaned himself,
Hes much whiter than white.

He always is such a joy,
And everyone can see
Instead of adopting him,
Hes adopted me!

Although we have seven cats,
And two big dogs as well
Hes king of our household,
As anyone can tell.

So, if youre looking for a cat
With personality,
Youll have to look no further
Than my little Kiki Dee.
