We took in Sweet Baby and his Mama in the summer of 1997. She was the wildest feral I had ever seen. He was so tiny, and about 8 weeks old. How she has surprised me. She likes me now.... she really, really likes me! I think it's because HE accepted me, and she saw how much I loved her baby. She still calls him about 10 times a day. He's so much bigger than she is, but he's her baby. Whenever she hears anything that frightens her... she calls that baby to her, and he hides under the bed until one of us calls him out. She usually waits behind. I guess to make sure no one hurts him. It amazes me how much she loves her "kitten" to this day. He still listens to her too. They talk to each other all the time.

I know not all of my "Mama's" seemed too thrilled to always have to play that role. But, this Mama of his, she is so devoted to him to this day. Maybe it's because she only had 3 kittens that we know of, and something happened to one of her babies. The other one was adopted. But, we kept him with his Mama. So, maybe only having the one kitten is why she's such a good mama. But, I really marvel at them, and the devotion they have for each other.
It is with great sadness that I have to report that we lost our beloved Sweet Baby on February 5, 2009
