Umerkot is famous for beautiful embroidery until recently a community of jogis or snake charmers lived outside Umarkot but following the prolonged drought left to return eventually when weather conditions improved. At the site today there is a small museum devoted to Akbar's life.
Diplo with numerous salt lakes and Naukot are major towns southwest of endless stretch of barren sand which can be viewed all around you. There are however some patches of habitable regions. For instance about 70 km from Naukot, facility of telephone is available at Mithi, a flourishing town for woolen blankets and embroidery.
Further down the road, another prosperous town Islamkot is encountered 40 km. The Rajputs came and settled down here and have strong resemblance to Rajasthan dwellers. On the way to Virwah, 68 km from Islamkot. The traveler comes across "Abhe Ka Thar' goth of the Bheel tribe and Bhelwah of the Moro - this area is noted for succulent fruit.
