The hills are situated 98 km from Karachi, just before Thatta. Here is the site of a million graves and mausoleums covering 6 km. Most of the tombs and mausoleums date back from the 16th and 17th centuries. Many of these belong to kings, queens, saints, scholars, governors, military commanders, philosophers and poets' probably built to their own design while they were still alive. Most of the mausoleums are masterpieces of ancient art of stone engravings and perforated stone work. Others are covered with beautiful blue or white glazed tiles. The archaeological department is taking various steps for its conservation.
South to North. there are three main groups of monuments: Mughal period 16th to 18th centuries, Tarkhan and Arghun periods 16th century and Samma period 14th to 16th centuries, Lungis. glazed pottery and sugar candy are manufactured here on cottage industry basis. There are three rest houses i.e. Circuit House, Highway House and Inspection Bungalow.
