Hanif Mohammad

Hanif Mohammad holds two world records in cricket. Playing in a match between Karachi and Bahawalpur, he was running for his 500th run when the ball hit the wicket before he could reach it. The 499 runs represents the highest score ever reached in first-class cricket. In 1958, playing for his country against the West Indies, he conducted the longest innings—scoring 337 runs over a period of 16 hours and 10 minutes.

Hanif Mohammad's three brothers also played cricket for Pakistan. By the time he retired in 1969, he had obtained centuries (100 runs a game) playing against all the major cricket nations except South Africa, which Pakistan had refused to play against. Hanif Mohammad was small for a cricketer and this earned him the nickname "Little Master.'
