The port city of Karachi, in southern Pakistan, is situated on an arm of the Arabian Sea near the Indus River. The busiest port east of the Suez Canal, Karachi handles shipping for both Pakistan and neighbouring Afghanistan. It is the country’s largest city and a major manufacturing centre.
