How sad it is that we live in a society that glamorizes guns and violence.
I feel so sad for the families of those killed on April 20, 1999 in Denver Co. I hope this webpage will in some small way make people aware of the amount of gun violence in this country. In 1997, there were 5840 children killed by guns. That is 16 children per day killed in this country by guns. That is a classroom of our children killed every other day. We have to do something about that.
I know it is unrealistic to think we can get criminals to give up their guns, but if we can get the average citizens, with guns in their homes, to put locks on their guns. That would be a huge step in the right direction.
There are over 250 million guns in the US. That is enough to give a gun to every adult and half of the children in the US. This is an alarming fact to me.
