Another download site

Here is the information on how to obtain free playback files.

  1. cme files: ftp://ftp.cme.com/pub/gtime/  contains zip files, do not unzip them just add them when the program asks you to do so.
  2. ensign files: http://ensignsoftware.com/ftp/  contains txt files. Add them when the program asks you to do so. Or  http://charts.dacharts.com/Playback_Files.htm  you need to unzip the zip files first before add them.
  3. You can download the files to any directory you like. But the most convenient way is to save them into the same directory as that of your easyplayback.

What is New in the version released on July 5, 2004?

With this release, you can not only playback the ensign files but also playback the cme files at ftp://ftp.cme.com/pub/gtime/ For example, you can playback ER with cme files. Please note that the tick symbol CME uses may not be the same as that of your data vendors. So before using cme files to do the playback, take a look at cme.com to find the right tick symbol.

How do I install this version?

How to playback the cme files?

The proceedure is almost the same as that of doing playback using ensign files. The only difference is when you are asked to add playback files, you have to add the zip files downloaded from  ftp://ftp.cme.com/pub/gtime/     The files you add must be zip files. So please do not unzip them.

Please note that ftp://ftp.cme.com/pub/gtime/ does not contains many files. But it is updated.  So you need to download them from time to time.

Sample data files for ensign and cme can be downloaded here.

The most common question:

Q:My playback chart is not updated or when I open the playback chart, I am asked to connect to IB. Anything wrong?

A: Using this playback program does not require you to connect to the Internet. After you open the playback chart, hit F5 to go to Chart settings. Then put start time:00:00 for Sierra ver 45 or early, 00:00:00 for Sierra ver 46 or later and end time:23:59 for Sierra ver 45 or early, 23:59:59 for Sierra ver 46 or later. Then set as default.
