Namco Bandai announced yesterday that their new title, Soulcalibur Legends will be exclusive for the Wii and will take full advantage of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Having already sold more than 9 million units worldwide to date, the Soul series takes a new direction on Nintendo's new-generation machine, offering a third person action adventure rather than a straight beat-'em-up. Soulcalibur Legends will follow the 16th centure exploits of Siegfried and other Soulcalibur characters, both old and new, as they embark on a quest for an ultimate power that can be used to save and empire from destruction. The Wii Remote and Nunchuk will be assigned to the player's weapons of choice, allowing them to perform moves and combos with specific slashes and movements. Mastering the sword fighting controls will unleash special attacks against waves of opponents and the bosses, as well as earning honoured titles such as Knight or Soldier. "Over the past ten years, since the release of the original Soulblade, the team behind the Soulcalibur series has pushed the envelope of technology and innovation with each iteration," said Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President and COO, NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. "With Soulcalibur Legends, they saw the opportunity to once again create an immersive experience that is unique to the franchise." Promising to show the Soulcalibur universe in a new light, we can expect Legends to be released this winter.
