General B grew up in several innercity communities in Kingston. Life was hard but fun for the youngsters who spent a great deal of their free time on the streets, where you matured quickly and learned first hand about death and disillusionment in the real sense.

Genearal B made his career choice early; he started at the age of 11. His journey began while a student at the Balcombe All Age School practicing on desk top rhytms. He took his desk top music to the Edith Dalton James Secondary School. While still in school, he did his first recording "Bow Down" for Leggo Records and this earned him instant recognition. From there he went on to record with producer Colin Fatta, where he has been turning out popular songs such as "Me Dear Child" and "Body Good". The song that really established General B was "Patricia". It spoke of obstacles from parents and others that people sometimes face in trying to establish a relstionship.

There are many sides to the DJ, but he is more known for his girls oriented lyrics. His single on the Studio 2000 label, however, points to the fact that serious social commentary can be expected from him. "Bad In Them New Clothes" addresses people who feel strong and bad when dressed in the popular name brands of the day. The hit "Wine Nicky Wine" also addresses the young girls who have other things on their minds instead of school. This artist is definitely here to stay and shows the promise of a talented DJ. "Big Tings a gwaan fi General B".
