| 4th Dark World Castle: Gargoyle's Domain |
| Four Room Maze This, in my opinion, is a very easy castle, but you deserve it after Skull Woods. Head south to Dark World's Kakariko Village and go to the statue of a gargoyle that is where the weathervane was in Light World. To enter, you must pull on the gargoyle's pitchfork, just like it's a switch. Once inside, you will be in an area that is somewhat confusing to navigate. I will name the rooms by the quadrants in the coordinate plane: 2 1 3 4 (in case you haven't had geometry in a while) Go stright to the north wall of Room 3, then drop down to the lower level and open the chest. Get the Map, then, where you jumped, walk straight north. You will find yourself in the lower level of room 2. Watch out for the red guys walking around: they randomly shoot fireballs so don't stay still for long. The treasure chest near you has rupees in it. Go around the room (it's easier to stay at the bottom) and through to room 1. Be careful of the Moon Pearl-negator and go around south up the ladder. Go west, then north a tiny bit, and hop back down. Now go south to room 4. Go up the ladder, then go west (NOT through the doorway; it will make you start over again from the beginning), south, then to the treasure chest to get the Compass. Now go to the very southwestern corner on the bottom level. Walk into the western wall and you will find yourself in the southeastern corner of room 3. Open the treasure chest on the lower level to get the Big Key. Go back into room 1. Go up the ladder in front of you, then go northeast and open the Big Key locked door. Saving the Maiden and Retrieving the Titan's Mitt In this room, kill the skeletons and get the key under the northeastern pot. Go through the southern-most door on the west wall, then go west again. Be careful of the Anti-faerie and kill the pink blobs by hitting its nucleus twice with your sword. Go west once more, then north. Before hitting the switch, pick up the pot and get the key. Stand with your back touching the north wall and use your Boomerang to flip the switch. Go through the door, click the switch under the pot, then go through the next door. Keep going west. In this room, do not pick up any pots or open any treasure chests until you have done this: standing very close to the southern wall, plant a bomb, then immediately pick it up with A. Walk forward a little and at the same time push A to throw it onto the crack on the floor where the sunlight is shining down. Now get the pots and chests to replenish your stock of bombs. Go back downstairs, then go south (you can hit the switch if you need to, but be sure it is blue before leaving the room). Go immediately east, then east again. Be careful in this room; there are also several hearts in here, if you need them. Now go north, and in this next room, kill all the baddies. Now go west, south (be careful), and east. Go east, then open each cell to finally free the maiden. Let her trail after you, get the key, then go back into the previous room. Go west, then west again. Whip out your Hammer and immediately get inside the circle of gophers, but do it fast because the floor falls out from under you. Get the Titan's Mitt, then hookshot back to the outher edge of the floor by grappling the statue. Revealing the Maiden's Identity Go through the door, north up the conveyor belt, east, then north. Pick up the northeast pot, step on the switch and go through that door. Instead of taking the maiden out of the castle, take her to the room just north of you. Walk her into the sunlight and -- surprise! -- she is really Blind the Thief (or cross-dresser). The Boss of Gargoyle's Domain: Blind the Thief If you recall what the man in the green-roofed house in Kakariko Village said, Blind hates light; you've just angered him. So now you are in for a battle with the boss, who is not particularly difficult if you keep moving. Hit his head with your sword (watch out for the lasers and fireballs, but these are pretty random, so just don't stop walking around). After you hit him enough, this one head will start flying around the room independently and Blind will grow another on his shoulders. The flying one slings fireballs around, so be on the lookout. Keep attacking the head on Blind's shoulders. After three more hits, you will have two heads flying around. Hit the new head on his shoulders three more times, and Blind is dead. Now you have four crystals and at least eleven Heart Containers. Upgrades! While you are in the area, you should get your sword tempered. The blacksmith is just south of the main part of the village. He looks like frog. Release him from his stony enclosure and you will, once again, have someone following you around. Take him back to the Light World to meet his partner (check this map to find the smithy). Go out the door, go back in, and then ask them to temper your sword. While you are waiting, go back into Dark World where the blacksmith shop was and hammer down all the pegs just south of it. A hole will appear in the ground, so jump down. In here, go north, throw Magic Powder on the statue, and wait a moment. A very odd bat will pop out and tell you that he is reducing your magic power by half, though he is actually doubling it. Now go to the shop and grab your tempered sword. It is twice as strong as the Master Sword! Consider yourself one powerful Link. One more thing, warp back to Dark World one more time and you'll find a locked chest inside the smithy. Drag it with you to the Light World entrance to the Desert of Mystery. There you will find a man sitting by a sign. When you talk to him, you find out he's a thief who is willing to pick the lock on the chest in order for you to keep his secret. You'll have a nice reward waiting inside! |
