| since may, jake's been playing with an ultimate team called "truck stop." in october, the team faced off against the top 16 men's teams for the national title (in sarasota). we played really well and finished tied for fifth, above expectations. nice group of guys. very classy. | |||||||||||||||||||

| in november, we went to isla mujeres off the coast of cancun to witness the union of lisa's brother ray and katie sutcliffe. we took over a whole b&b, ate fish tacos, went biking and snorkeling, and generally chilled out. katie and ray dressed like this all week which was a bit odd but nobody called them on it because it was their wedding. they just moved to DC and live about five blocks from us. we're pumped up to have them so close. | |||||||||||||||||||

| we crashed their honeymoon for a day to drive inland to chichen itza and ponder some pyramidal structures. it was pretty awesome but katie and ray said that they saw much better stuff with many fewer people farther inland. so let that be a lesson to you. | |||||||||||||||||||
| *** we lost two other family member this year. the great uncle kelly grodzins (jake's grandfather's brother), a socially progressive and philanthropically minded businessman of chicago, and the great grandma max (mother to carol, barbara and martha), the family's matriarch. max spent the last few years of her life in thailand, surrounded by beautiful nature, loving family and delicious ice cream. *** |

| so, as you can see, it was a great year. we travelled, changed jobs, got a house and got engaged. oh, shoot, we left that part out. in august, lisa and jake got engaged. it happened right inside the door of their house. it was the result of almost five years of dating. we decided that our 30-year fixed marriage - in the form of the house - wasn't sufficient. so, we're planning to actually sign papers and throw a big party in fall of 2008. details will emerge in dribs and drabs. your only guaranteed way of keeping up is to call, email or visit. we'd suggest number three. | |||||||||||||||||||
