Identifying of Music

Musical Notes.

This is a very general pattern when considering dancing strictly, any one of the ten dances of Dance-Sport.
When you listen to the music the first thing to do is to tap with the beats. Then is to count the number of beats per bar.

Next is to decide if the music is smooth or has a staccato of beats, like in Indian Film music. If it's smooth then it's the Smooth Section or else the Staccato Section.

Under the Smooth section, decide whether the music is slow or fast. If the music is slow, it is for the dance, Foxtrot. Or else it is Quickstep.

If we have three beats per bar then we come to the special section under the Smooth Section. Again decide whether the music is slow or fast. If it is slow, then the music is for the Waltz, or else it is Viennese Waltz. Earlier in the hierarchy when you count three beats per bar, you could directly jump to this special section.

If the music has Indian film kind of music, then it is the Staccato section. Decide whether it is slow or fast. If slow then it's Rumba, else Samba.

Here however check again with the Special section under Staccato.
If the music is "bouncy" type as of Elvis Presley or Beetles, then its jive.
If the counts go as "1234&1" or "123cc1", or the fourth beat seems to be broken into two beats, then it is for the dance, Cha Cha Cha.
If the music sounds like quick march music then it is for Paso Doble.
And if the quick march music seems to be slow it is for Tango.
